On [XXX] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [XXX] just north of twin falls Idaho I had cruise control set to 81 MPH when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a ford dealer and it was the CDF drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. I own a 2019 Ford F-150 with only 94,000 miles on it-?"barely approaching 100,000-?"and I-??m already experiencing significant transmission issues. The vehicle is equipped with the 10R80 transmission, and the way it shifts gears is extremely concerning. It-??s unreasonable for such a critical component to show this level of failure so early. At this rate, it feels as though I-??d need to replace the transmission every 94,000 miles, which is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about long-term reliability.

I am experiencing a serious and potentially dangerous issue with the transmission in my 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat equipped with the 10-speed 10R80 automatic transmission. At highway speeds (65-?"75 mph), the truck will occasionally downshift abruptly into a much lower gear without any input from the driver. This causes the engine RPMs to spike and creates a sudden deceleration, which could easily lead to a rear-end collision or loss of control.

Vehicle fails to accelerate and change gears (1-3); and vehicle fails to accelerate. While driving at a cruising speed and trying to pass vehicle will not change gears (8-10). Jerks and shutters while trying to accelerate. Was told that the transmission is bad and would cost $8,000 minimum to repair.

Vehicle will downshift from 10th gear to 1st gear at highway speeds. Vehicle lunges forward after stoplight restarts. 3rd to 4th and 9th to 10th gear shifts are extremely delayed and transmission slips during shifts. Transmission makes very loud noises and clunks when driven. Transmission lags and delays when going into reverse.

I leased a new 2019 Ford f150 xlt sport package in the fall of 2019. During the first year, I experienced some "choking" of the engine when I would accelerate. Nothing big, but noticeable. I mentioned this experience to the dealer at regular checkups and they informed me that it was "normal" and that if anything was wrong, the computerized monitoring system on the truck would identify the problem. I bought the truck after a 36 month lease. The choking continued to be a regular occurance, especially for the first few miles of a new drive. Around 30k miles, I noticed the issue getting more pronounced. I again asked the dealer about it and they provided me the same answer as before and didn't offer to explore the issue. Between 30K and 50K miles, the issue became more frequent and would impact the truck whether it was warm or cold. But now I experienced a hard shift between 1-3 gears and sometime 3-5-- jerking and slowing and struggling to move to the next gear. It will also bog down at times when changing into the higher gears with no telling when this would occur. Again, I asked the dealer about it, and becuase there was no safety light, they wouldn't do a thing. Over the past month or two, at over 50K miles, the frequency was several times on every drive. It started to jump from 8-1 and back up to 8. It would jerk and slow in high traffic situations, and finally it just would not move into gear at a stop sign at rush hour. I had to drop it into low gears and move to the side of the road after 10 minutes of stoppage; then the check engine indicator finally flashed, after an incident that could have caused harm to me or others. I slowly drove it to my destination. Since then, I have not allowed anyone to drive the truck because it is dangerous to operate. I took the truck to the dealer and they informed me that it needs a new transmission which will be ~$5k

component in question is the transmission "10R80". risk is that truck stops or loses speed in the middle of driving. It is especially dangers when going thru a 4 way stop and truck almost comes to a stop because it has no speed and have encounterd close calls to be hit or T boned by other vehicles. Problem has been on ongoing dispute with consumers and Ford about the extreme problems with the transmission that include harsh shifting, jerking, hesitation, constant sudden downshifts, difficulty shifting gears, and even an occasional loss of power while in motion. Other descriptions that I experience is noticeable lurches during gear changes recently purchased this vehicle and I was fully unaware of it problems nor was it mentioned to me by the used car salesman and manager that they had a truck in their lot with extreme transmission problems. First purchased ([xxx]) there was no warning signs but maybe after a month or so is when the truck showed a "wrench" symbol on the dash as to show that there is a problem. But somehow it resets everytime you turn off truck and restart as if showing no problem exists. I have learned to deal with it since than but now it is just getting worse. Have not taken it to the dealership because I am not ready to pay for a problem that (I am now fully aware) Ford has known about this problem and has not taken the safety precautions or remedies for consumers that own their product to get this fixed before a serious/deadly incident occurs you please investigate this extreme known problem because at times I fear for myself, my family and even the driving community for their safety because of what my truck may do or not do while I am driving this unsafe vehicle in our public roadways/highways. The car lost ALL POWER and the ability to accelerate for more than 10 seconds. Luckily cars coming form across moved to the side to not hit me. I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. I attempted to shift manually in a panic and the car slammed really hard in likely 1st gear, red-lineed for several seconds then inched forward enough to pull to the side. I was able to proceed forward stuck in 7th gear, where the car remained stuck in that gear. This was terrifying as I had ZERO ability to move forward, the engine was revving but no gears were available

My truck's gas pedal does not always accelerate the truck. By playing lightly with the accelerator I can usually keep the truck accelerating. If I press the accelerator to the floorboard, the truck just stops, so I never do that. Maybe 3 times in 4 years. Several times I have been on a freeway and my truck comes to a complete stop. Very Scary! My truck has had this behavior since I first bought it. Planet Ford told me repeatedly that it was due to the way I drove. Called Ford and they were no help. I finally gave up.

The transmission on this vehicle regularly hesitates, lurches and shifts gears unexpectedly. I have had multiple incidents of not being able to accelerate without a delay while in traffic and once the transmission downshifted incorrectly on the freeway which nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle. The unexpected lack of acceleration while in live traffic and the erratic gear shifting on the highway is a safety hazard for me and for other drivers on the road.

I have had numerous issues with the transmission on this truck. The truck has been to dealerships ever since I bought it for transmission issues. New issue occurred this week while going 75mph and continually as I decreased speed down to 60mph. While driving at the high rate of speed the transmission would go from gear 10 straight to 1, causing the RPMs to spike and Redline once. This occurred 5 times during my drive within about 15 minutes until I was able to stop and leave the truck. No leaks of any transmission fluid was found and truck has had all of its annual inspections and work done according to Ford maintenance timelines and all work on truck has been done at Ford dealerships. I have complained to many dealerships about my transmission. One of the times the gear shifted to from 10 to 1 for a few seconds and then straight back to 10 after the RPMs spiking was recorded on video.

Approximately 2 weeks after purchasing the truck I noticed some harsh shifting, jerking, and sudden acceleration, and hesitation issues. They were intermittent and I was advised this is not uncommon with this model vehicle. However, these issues have become more frequent and severe. Next, I noticed the gears began slipping and the truck seemed to not be able to -??find-?? the gear it needed to be in. The transmission would slam into gear or begin slipping under acceleration. There is no rhyme or reason to it, I have not been able to pinpoint it to a specific gear or up/down shift. It simply loses power and neither the gas nor brake work. It will coast until the wrench (check engine?) symbol comes on and then the gas will function. This week the transmission has started intermittently locking into a specific gear without the ability to shift. It-??s now happened 3 times. You cannot reverse or drive, the transmission puts itself in park while the dash still indicates its in drive or reverse. After parking the truck for a couple of hours, I could start and drive as usual. Most importantly, twice Saturday the truck seemed to shift out of gear, so hard my head hit the steering wheel, and lost power going 70mph on I64. I have attempted to video these events to help diagnose the issues, but obviously driving and recording are dangerous and difficult.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while in park, the vehicle accelerated independently. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The driver was unable to control the vehicle. The check engine warning and power train warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was related to the transmission. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 90,000.
