This is information on the purchase of a 2019 F-150 XLT, (1FTFW1E42KFC19763 ) at Waconia MN Ford.
Which included the trade of a 2011 F-150 XLT.
And the very poor mileage gotten in the short time I have had it.
Miles reset on Fri, 10/21/22 for trip, from Mayer MN, to Phoenix AZ
Total gas used, and trip miles average listed.
On the way, ‘down the hill’, from Flagstaff to Phoenix.
(Which I have driven with Mercury Mountaineer, A 2014 Forester, a 2017 Forester, a 2002 F-150, a 2011 F-150)
The 2019 F-150 was, ‘Dragging’.
In all cases, going down the many 6% grades, I would leave the unit in gear, and lift off the accelerator. And then when going too fast, (which the unit would Always increase in speed) this 2019, DECREASED in speed, so much that several times I had to accelerate, on a 6+% grade, down hill.
That would be going Backwards!
In that last hour + going downhill, it came to me.
It could be the, Brake’s dragging. Warped rotors, cheep pads, and or shoddy assembly/manufacture of parts that need to be smooth.
Here are the numbers, according to the Truck’s computer, AFTER, it was wiped clean, to NOT show hours idling in the in the car lot. And after purchase, running the engine, while learning the controls, and setting up the Sync 3.3.
Trip 1, 577 Miles, 17.6 MPG
Trip 2, 2413 Miles, 17.3 MPG
Odometer reset MPG, From MN - AZ 10/21 - 10/23.
Mayer Mn, 37146 Full Tank
York NE, 37601 25.27 gal
Hooker OK 38031 24.66 gal
Jamestown NM 38506 28.5 gal
Carefree AZ. 38831 388312 gal. To Full
Average all three, as to the Truck’s computer = 17.53
As to the Truck, (trip 1 & 2) and Gas/miles = 17.30
In a Nut shell,
8 years newer,
2 cylinders less,
and 750 lbs lighter.
Losing 1.5+ MPG overall
is Going Backwards !
I don’t accept, the much lower MPG, by the SAME style truck, which is 750 LBs Lighter, 8 Years newer, 2 cylinders LESS,
If this problem cannot be rectified,
It will require a refund of any monies paid, and a return of my trade in.
Other Issues.
The Rattle: After a day or two sitting, starting up the, ‘chain rattle’, Much more pronounced in AZ than MN.
Which is covered by the supplemental warranty coverage I paid extra for, (just hope it does not fail when I am in the middle of nowhere)
The Sync 3 system. A Fire Tablet with a Audio book played automatically, in the 2011(with a 3.5mm plug)
In the 2019, it has to be, ‘Re-Discovered’ ,EVERY time the motor is switched off.
In the 2019, a old phone (Android 9, Moto) which is now used as a storage device for ONLY auto books, if a audio book is ‘played’ it Disconnect’s my main phone, and puts the old phone with no service on it as the ‘main’ phone. Therefore no longer rendering my current, (with service), phone, as a hands free device.
This is again, going Backwards.
I have Both 'stickers', and the 2019 one lists MORE MPG than the 2011 for all three categories
.
I call that FALSE advertising.
And 3 letters to FORD have resulted in NO answer.
