Steering wheel airbag cover has been replaced twice already and has failed a third time. The plastic cover separates at the release point for the airbag, directly below the steering wheel emblem, exposing the airbag to the elements. The composition of this FORD airbag cover has changed at least once and is still failing in the new design. Dealership is refusing to provide me with service records requested 3 times.

At 30k miles the center of the steering wheel (plastic where Ford emblem is which houses the driver airbag) completely opened up horizontally along the perforation where the airbag deploys in the event of an accident exposing the airbag underneath. If you honk the horn your palm depresses into the cavity where the airbag is. Ford fixed this under bumper to bumper warranty which ends at 36k miles. Now at 50k miles the plastic has opened up completely once again, only this time horizontally along the right side perforations on the same plastic cover through which the airbag deploys in the event of an accident. As before, depressing the center of the steering whee to honk the horn causes your palm to go through the perforation and press against the airbag. The cover cannot be replaced on its own and comes as a single unit attached to the airbag known to Ford by part name -??Driver Inflator Module-??. Initial response from dealer was it is cosmetic and not covered however I contacted Ford who advised that the part is covered under the 60k mile Airbag Safety Restraint Warranty. Dealer disagrees even after I presented him with the NHTSA ID 10207126 communication where Ford acknowledges the issue and advised a more -??robust-?? airbag assembly has been released.

on 3/6/2020 I was in a serious car accident in the vehicle. which required surgeries for not only myself but also other drivers on the road. The driver air bags did not deploy, the turck was totaled and had body damage around the entire vehicle. There was a blood stain from my head hitting the driver door window but no air bag deployment. The gas pedal was not attached when reviewing the photos taken. The collision detection did not detect. we have asked Ford Motor Company to come and look at the car as it has been in a protective hold but the response from FMC was that due to covid they would not send anyone and we were left on out own. There were no warning messages, lamps, lights or indicators prior to the collision.

While driving down a two lane street, a van ran in front of me causing me to T-bone that vehicle. The advance warning did not activate, the brakes did not automatically activate, and worst, the air bag did not deploy causing me some injuries.

Rcm has lost communication all fuses are in working order. Pre collision has stopped working my parking brake, hill start assist and seat belt warnings have stopped as well. Air bag light, traction control, abs light and check engine lights are on in dash board. My truck only has 49000 miles on it and a major component has gone out how could this be my fault.

My dad was driving my F150 heading southbound on hwy 49 in richland, Ms. At the wilson rd intersection the car in front of my dad slammed on brakes for the yellow light, my dad hit his brakes, and the 18 wheeler behind my dad rear ended him, slamming him into the car in front of him and pushed both cars through the intersection about 50 feet. The impact was strong enough to break the seat. None of the airbags deployed.

My vehicle was stationary at the edge of an intersection. My vehicle was impacted by a large heavy pick at moderate speed. The other truck struck my vehicle at the front left corner. While the impact caused head and hip injury; the airbags failed to deploy. My vehicle has been totaled from the impact.

I just bought my truck and have honked my horn two times. Both times the perforated seal for the airbag has split open. I got it repaired the first time and now I have an appointment to get it repaired a second time. This is a defect, you should be able to apply pressure to honk a horn. Especially if someone pulls out in front of you and you have to abruptly apply the brakes at the same time as honking. This creates a forward force that makes you press harder as well. This is a safety issue as well, as I'm not sure about the airbag now, if it will work at all, or if it will deploy for no reason and injure me. Both times I was driving, but only the first time did I have to hit the brakes hard, the second time was a normal honk with light to medium pressure.
