This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
I took the vehicle to the dealership, 3 weeks ago due to shifting issues, not shifting it appears it is down shifting and, hesitating, loud noise in rear. clucking noise. The dealer said they did a reset to clear out old, and reset for new.

Transmission clunking/delay when auto shifting from lower to higher gear. First Ford shop said they couldn't find the problem, said it could be associated with adaptive learning system which they reset. Problem disappeared for a few months before reappearing.
Second Ford shop said they didn't know cause and would have to drop the transmission for inspection at a cost of $600 - then and only then could they isolate problem, but a transmission replacement was likely. Note: when I first took truck to service shop it was still on warranty but by second visit it was not.

Ford seems to have had this problem with transmissions for sometime. This is my third Ford F150 and have never had such an issue. I have also never been so disappointed in the service at the dealership or that for such an expensive truck they could care less about fixing the problem.
