The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed during a rainstorm, he became aware that the sunroof was leaking, which could potentially lead to damages on the interior of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the molding around the sunroof glass. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.

The contact called another local dealer, Jerry's Auto Sales of Lennox (27786 SD-17), Lennox, SD 57039, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

The sunroof will leak through both the rear passanger seatbelt assembly which could damage the integrity of the seatbelt and/or seatbelt mount. Additionally, water will come out of the microphone/sunroof controls above the driver, which can cause the driver to become distracted and/or momentarily visually impaired. There are multiple posts in forums about this issue and I think it should be addressed by the NHTSA.

The contact later became aware that the panoramic sunroof had exploded causing the abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,025.
