I own a 2021 Ford F-150 [Lariat PowerBoost] affected by recall 23S65 (rear axle bolt). The bolts have severed. Ford has advised that my truck is unsafe to drive until repaired. When I brought the vehicle in, I was told parts were available. I drove the car home and later discovered from paperwork that the repair was not completed only the parts had been ordered. I was told not to take the Truck on my upcoming vacation pulling my camper. I opened a case with Ford Customer Care and was originally told parts would arrive before my scheduled use, but now I am told they will not be available for weeks. This creates a serious safety and hardship issue. My family is scheduled to leave for a trip this Thursday that requires this vehicle to transport my family and tow our camper. Ford has not provided a rental or loaner vehicle capable of replacing my truck, despite advising it is unsafe to drive. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford-??s failure to provide a timely remedy or interim solution for a safety-critical recall that removes my vehicle from safe use.

Drove it out to CA from Texas. Purchased for Planet Ford who told me the truck was k to drive and no axel problem. Drove it out to CA from Texas when we moved in late April - after that went to Santa Barbara and dashboard controls went dead. Speedometer and may other controls stopped working. Truck felt sluggish. Took it into Tuttle Click Ford Lincoln in Irvine and they said they real axel was about to fall off and took the truck away. They've had it for a month and said they may have it for another 2-4 week or longer.

The rear axle hub bolt on my 2021 Ford F-150 PowerBoost failed to meet design safety standards and is subject to Recall 23S65. The vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership and is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk because the bolt can shear off without warning, causing the rear axle shaft to disengage. This can result in sudden loss of propulsion or vehicle rollaway, especially if parked on an incline. Ford has acknowledged this risk but has not made a final repair available for PowerBoost models. I was not offered a loaner, and I cannot confirm if the vehicle is safe to drive. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership. They told me they are unable to perform even the interim repair until at least July 22 and that there is no ETA at all for the final fix specific to hybrid (PowerBoost) models. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealer but not by Ford Motor Company representatives directly. Ford customer service has failed to provide any meaningful support or confirmation of safety. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the recall. Ford states the failure may occur without symptoms, which makes the defect more dangerous. I have not personally experienced a failure yet, but I'm being asked to either drive the vehicle in this condition or go without transportation indefinitely.

On Saturday (April 19th), I looked at my rear tire, passenger side, and noticed a bolt inside my hub. After seeing that I parked my vehicle. This morning I called Al Packer Ford East, told them I had this issue and know its a recall, the lady told me I needed to drive my vehicle in for them to be serviced, when I told her it was unsafe, she well that not my problem.

Ford refuses / is unable to resolve Safety Recall 23S65/23V896. Ford has stated solution will be available by 1st quarter 2025. It is now April 12, 2025 and Ford reports no solution date. Recall 23S65/23V896 is a Safety recall. Ford's description: Safety Risk This may initially result in a clicking noise as the bolt becomes loose and a rattle noise from the wheel cap if the bolt breaks. Vehicles with damaged axle hub splines may roll in park without the parking brake applied, or, alternatively, lose drive power, both of which may increase the risk of injury or a crash.

Ford stated a solution to this would be available Q1 2025, but has not provided one. They had already pushed this back once before. THE WHEEL END HUB BOLT IN THE REAR AXLE MAY BECOME LOOSE OR BREAK. CONTINUED DRIVING WITH A BROKEN BOLT MAY LEAD TO WEAR WITHIN THE AXLE AND DAMAGE THE AXLE HUB SPLINES. THIS MAY INITIALLY RESULT IN A CLICKING NOISE AS THE BOLT BECOMES LOOSE AND A RATTLE NOISE FROM THE WHEEL CAP IF THE BOLT BREAKS. VEHICLES WITH DAMAGED AXLE HUB SPLINES MAY ROLL IN PARK WITHOUT THE PARKING BRAKE APPLIED, OR, ALTERNATIVELY, LOSE DRIVE POWER, BOTH OF WHICH MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY OR A CRASH.

Unable to rotate tires or change a flat tire because per dealer Ford lug nuts are swollen and they can not come off with standard tool (lug wrench). Dealer informed me this has been an issue for years but there are no recalls. I was shocked to find out a simple issue like a flat tire can not be fixed due to the simplest designed piece of equipment on the vehicle (lug nut). Dealer stated i can buy replacement lug nuts from Ford for about $200 but they will do the same thing over time. I just found many write ups about this ongoing problem and wonder why NHTSA allows this to not be a recall... this is a safety issue. Get Ford to redesign the Lug Nut, make it a simple one piece design and relace at no charge. If I or one of my family members get a flat tire and is stranded that would not be good!

Rear axle seal busted because the rear axle hub bolt broke. Dealer indicated this cause the axle boot to bust allowing water into the differential. Dealer stated parts for recall aren't available and/or are on national back order. Ford estimates a fix will be in place 1st quarter 2025. So I am out of a vehicle until this time. Ford refuses to cover a rental.

Tire pressure sensor keeps coming on and says it is faulty. The driver side window will not completely roll down( we have done a reset and it will only work once or twice). With the radio it will sometimes not work(we have done a soft reset and it will work a few times and then stop). The last thing the heat shield that is underneath the truck had a recall we got it repaired and since it hangs down, we have taken to the dealership and they repaired it again and will still hand down.

The rear axel bolt sheared off. I started to hear a rattle called ford to see when I could get my truck in to get it looked at. Got an appointment set up 2 months down the road was the soonest they could get me in. While waiting for that time truck stated to vibrate. I decided to try a tire rotation and I had the rear axel bolt drop to the ground. Not sure exactly when I started hearing the rattle. They safety was the tire could have come off while driving which could have caused an accident which could have caused injuries or death of my family or others. I called ford back they told me to have it towed in so they could look at it right away. So in 4 days my truck will be towed there for inspection. No warning lights about the bolt but I did have one about 4x4 would not engage back on 27/MAR/2023. Ford checked the axel and suspension.

I took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation one 3/18/23 and currently has ~13,500. Upon pulling the rear drivers side rear tire the axle bolt fell out as it had been sheared off. There was no notice of the issue and as I understand it could have resulted in my right real wheel to have broken off while driving. The dealer immediately took it out of service and currently is searching the fix.

I bought the vehicle new. The first time I took it to get an oil change, the mechanic came out to show me that the bell housing bolts were falling out. We tightened them up. I was having issues with the smell of breaks burning so I took it to a ford dealership but told them to check the bolts as well. I told them it would shake some when approaching 80 mph. They didn't find anything wrong. And nothing was said about the shaking. At 51k miles, my family was on vacation. My nephew noticed the front passenger wheel was about to blow out when we had stopped. Putting on the spare I started recording the change because the lug nuts were extremely loose. The tires have never been rotated or changed these issues were from the factory. I reached out to Ford, they told me to take it back to a shop which I have scheduled. It's pointless, this truck is a death trap and Ford doesn't seem to care at all about the level of safety this was for me and my family.

The bolt that secures the hub to the semi float axle shaft sheared on the rear passenger side. At this point, the only thing holding the wheel/hub assembly on the truck is spline friction and brake caliper. I discovered the issue today during a tire rotation, but based on the condition of the bolt it appears that the bolt has been sheared for some time--possibly from the factory. More owners reporting the issue here: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021-powerboost-rear-rotor-axle-bolt-sheared-515460/
