At idle, the vehicle will shutter and idle rough, nearly stalling in traffic. I have taken it to the dealership twice to two separate dealerships and it's under factory warranty and they have no repair or fix for the problem.

Loss of Acceleration in 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid I am writing to report a safety issue with my 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, which has been experiencing acceleration lag and loss of power during regular driving conditions. Component/System that Failed: The powertrain system, specifically related to the integration between the electric motor and gasoline engine, appears to be malfunctioning. This issue primarily affects the vehicle's ability to accelerate after a stop or during turns. Safety Risk: The loss of acceleration poses a significant safety risk to both myself and others on the road. The delay in throttle response has caused the truck to remain in a low gear for several seconds, even with the accelerator fully pressed. This issue has occurred while merging onto highways, when moving through intersections, where quick acceleration is necessary to avoid collisions and a simply stop signs taking a turn where I'm not able to accelerate after. The delay increases the likelihood of rear-end collisions and creates dangerous situations, especially in heavy traffic. The problem has been reproduced by a dealer and many other owners have reported the same issue. I'm hoping that Ford has releases Powertrain Control Module (PCM) update aimed at addressing this, but the issue persists for many, including myself after recent PCM updates. The vehicle has been formally inspected by my local Ford dealership. They will be applying a PCM update on 10/10/2024. There were no warning lamps or error messages that appeared before or during the incidents. The problem occurs unexpectedly, usually when I press the accelerator, particularly in Eco or Normal driving modes. The issue has been less frequent in Sport and Tow/Haul modes, but this results in increased fuel consumption, which negates the advantages of the hybrid system.

I have received "High Voltage Battery Warnings" on 3 separate occasions (5/5/24, 5/9/24, 7/14/24), each time being told to stop the vehicle as soon as possible. On each occasion, once the vehicle is stopped it is bricked and cannot be driven at all. Fortunately, each of the three times I was able to stop the vehicle in a safe place. However, if others are experiencing the same issue, they may not be able to stop in a safe place. Furthermore, Ford has failed twice to fix the High Voltage battery issue, and the vehicle is currently at the dealer trying to resolve the issue for a third time. The fact that Ford does not know how to resolve this repeating issue is a large safety concern for two main reasons. First, as the high voltage battery is the main power unit for the propulsion system of the car, and with Ford clearly unaware of what or how to fix the issue, the car is at risk of stopping at any time or location. Second, the dealership working with Ford to fix the car mentioned that the repairs were taking a long time because Ford indicated that the High Voltage from the battery may be discharging into other components of the vehicle, e.g. frame, door panels, etc., and so they had to proceed with extreme caution. With Ford failing to resolve the issue at least two time, there may be a risk of very high electric current coming in contact with the driver or passengers in the vehicle. It would be shocking if that were to happen.

The computer/s that control every piece of equipment does not function as designed! The cruise control adjusted the speed (upward) without touching the controls. The lane keeping function will drag the truck into a turnout lane, left or right especially on a two lane highway with turn out lanes. The windshield wiper control has to be constantly manipulated to keep the windshield clean during snow and or rain storms. The instrument panel constantly changes which distracts the driver as so does the computer screen. The pre collision equipment works only sometimes. All the computers installed affect the function of other computers which causes driver distraction, like txt and driving.

Vehicle lost power while driving on highway requiring vehicle to be guided to shoulder. Once on shoulder, truck died and would not restart. After being towed to dealership, the vehicle was found to have a failed fuel pump. At the time of the incident, vehicle had 27671 miles on odometer.

During a long road trip my truck displayed a message stating that I had a Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power. My truck, while driving, reduced itself to half power. It also would not charge. I was 3 states away from home when this happened. I took the vehicle to my Ford dealership once I was able to get it home. The technician simply cleared a code and said that the issue could not be replicated. Clearly there is an issue. I know several people with the same issue. Frankly, I don't think that I can trust my new truck a significant distance from my residence.

When sitting at a stop light/stop sign/a complete stop, the truck will switch to electric mode... after about five to seven seconds, the truck "jumps" -- if feels like you just got rear ended. Truck currently at the dealership with no known ETA on repair.

Fuel odor when exiting the truck. Looked under the truck to investigate the gas odor and found a weeping gas line connection between the gas tank and transmission. Took the truck to Gary Yeoman Ford in Ocala, FL and they estimated it would cost $1385 to do the repair, however, they did not give us a copy of the estimate. Called them back today, 11/29 to set up an appointment for the repair and they will call us back to drop off the truck as it may take a couple of days to get the part.

While driving on the interstate my 2022 F150 Lightning platinum lost all power to the front motor. The "comfort" mode display showed no warnings, messages, or signals to indicate that power was severely limited. I realized the issue as the vehicle was losing speed as I was going up a grade where the vehicle would hardly maintain 75mph with my foot to the floor. I have pictures from the incident which I have uploaded. (The screenshots are from the typical display, and with the specific vehicle power menu enabled. I did not capture a picture of the "Comfort" display during the incident. I have uploaded an image of the comfort display I had previously taken.)

After over the air update, received a do not drive message with high voltage message and powertain failure, truck brought to dealer, were it spent 6 weeks to get repaired. As the dealer had to wait for the part even though the dealer working on the vehicle was told by Ford to order parts related to the high voltage battery back in February. On June 26, 2023 I received a message from Ford Motor Company that they had detected a battery module "not performing as expected" in my 2022 F-150 Lightning BEV truck. A contact at the Ford Battery Electric Vehicle Team stated the defective battery module would be replaced under Ford Customer Service Program 23H01. The contact stated that a replacement battery module had been ordered, and an appointment was set up at the local dealership for 7/31/2023. As of 8/22/2023 no work has been done to repair my truck. There are numerous postings on the F-150 Lightning Forum involving powertrain failures and loss of power while driving, High Voltage Battery warnings, and notices from Ford of defective battery modules. Loss of power while driving is obviously a very serious safety issue. It appears the scope of battery issues with Ford F-150 Lightning BEV trucks is very significant.
