We just bought this truck and the old man that owned it has used a bungee cord to keep it shut but we prefer not to do that so I'm letting the proper authorities be aware that the driver's door latch won't stay shut, something wrong with the latch, the door opens when driving.

Truck had been parked all afternoon at work. Upon leaving work there was a sudden loud noise that went on for a few seconds and then stopped. Immediately I thought I had hit something but once the vehical was stopped I saw that the uniroyal liberator A/T tire had been the issue. It had tread seperation and had destroyed the bed of my truck when it came apart.

Brackets holding fuel tanks have corroded allowing the fuel tank to drop. I noticed it when I parked my truck in the driveway. I have since put a chain around to try to prevent it from dropping entirely and exploding.

When brakes are applied with force, truck will not steer. This is a major concern and all 1999, 2000, 2001 250 and 350 trucks have same problem. Dealer has been contacted. Ford tech notes state (11/13/00: "...this is a normal condition and Ford isn't going to reengineer the vehicle to solve it. The condition comes from a new wider stance, tie rod angle and the fact that there is more weight in the front end than on the 97 old body style vehicle. The truck cannot be reengineered to solve the customers design issue unless the entire platform is redesigned. Ford is not going to incorporate a design change at this time and has not plans on the drawing board that the the hotline knows about." There will be fatalities because of this brake/steering problem!.
