Ejected spark plug rupturing the fuel rail catching the truck on fire, burning it to a crisp. Happened 4 times, (ejecting the plug) the first time the Ford dealer repaired it. We were driving it down the road heard a bang than a hiss of the fuel leaking got the truck stopped and just got out in time. Full flames in less than 2 minutes.

I was driving out my gravel driveway when the cable that holds the spare tire broke off. Contacted the dealer who said that no one else had experienced this problem. This could have been a serious incident if it had occurred on the highway or while towing a trailer.

Certified ltr requesting NHTSA initiate a defect investigation re selected Ford Motor Company vehicles left front inner bearings for advanced fatigue cracks. Complainant was recently asked to consult in the matter of a fatal high speed head on two-vehicle collision. While driving westbound 2001 Ford Expedition veered into the oncoming lane and struck an eastbound 2000 Ford F250 long bed truck towing a 5th wheel travel trailer. The resulting collision killed the three occupants in the 2001 Expedition and the two occupants in the 2000 Ford F250 pickup truck. The pick up truck and trailer were completely engulfed in flames upon officer's arrival. Metallurgical analysis showed that the left front inner bearing failed on the Explorer as a result of progressive fatigue. The bearing failure occurred at approximately 30,000 miles. Please reference ODI# 10139931 to obtain information on the 2001 Ford Expedition.

2000 Ford F-150 4.6L V-8. blown spark plug. Ford dealer claims that Ford will not approve a a repair and either the head ($3,000) or the motor ($5000) need to be replaced. There is no official tsb (technical service bulletin) on this problem, but unofficially, it seems that Ford is aware of the problem since the dealer put a "'special note" on the quote from Ford regarding the unapproved repair work above. From various internet searches, others have had trouble with Ford 4.6, 5.4 or V-10 motors with spark plugs blowing out of aluminum heads.

We hae a 2000 Ford F350 that was recently in an accident and the body shop found that it had prior damage. We were never notified by the dealership that this vehicle had prior damage. The prior damage makes the vehicle unsafe to drive as it has the wrong cab on it and the wrong cab has been welded on, as you can see the welding marks underneath the truck, and also the seat belts have been bolted in and not drilled in, but their are many drilled holes in the bottom of the truck cab. The body shop feels that the truck is unsafe to drive as you never know when the welding could collapse. We have pictures of the previous damage along with two witnesses. We have notified mid states Ford and also Ford Motor Company with a long list of things that have happened since June 9th, 2003. Mid states Ford has not contacted us since dennis contacted them on July 8th and they said they would get right back to us. Ford Motor Company has not called us back since our last note to them last week. We just want some answers before something else happens. We also would like some resolutions to this problem.

I have not gotten the problem fixed. The paint in the (rain gutters?) in the roof of the truck has cracks from front to back. I bought the truck in may and the dealer states they were not in there when I bought it. The dealer also states that the Ford company will not fix it. They stated that the it is in fact a factory defect but since I am past my 3 year 30,000 mile warranty it is my problem now..

Brakes- don't know what part would be considered defective. Have had it in atleast 9 separate occasions to anderson Ford in grand island, ne 120 diers ave 68803. They have adjusted the camber on the brakes, replaced pads, and have had to adjust the alignment. Haven't had it in since Dec. 27, 2001, although brakes are pulling again. (anderson Ford said they would not warranty again). Tire- the entire sidewall has blown out with no holes in the tread area, caused me to loose control and go into ditch, have minor findor and paint damage did not report. Worker at garret tire at 3004 w. old potash hwy, grand island 68803 said that the valve stem had a cut in it and caused the pressure to run low. Said the sidewall was basically running on the asphalt and that is what caused the side of the tire to completely blow out. Was not low when I started my travel. I have pictures and also have the tire and witnesses.
