Was in San Diego getting on the freeway in heavy traffic. As I accelerated to get up to freeway speed I hit a bump on the on ramp and the truck immediately went into an almost un-controllable wobble. The steering wheel went back and forth where I could barely hang on. I slowed and drove to the shoulder and stopped the truck. It felt as though something must have come apart in the front suspension.
After crawling under the truck and yanking on all the components of the suspension I could find nothing loose. I got back in and continued my trip although with extreme caution.
Update from Sep 17, 2022: I took my truck into the local Ford dealer in Mesquite NV. I spoke with a service advisor telling her what happened while I was driving. She stated, "oh, the Ford Death Wobble". She said it is a well know problem but Ford will not admit any responsibility saying it is lack of maintenance. The Ford dealer supposedly fixed the issue by installing an additional steering stabilizer, put 2" lifts in the front, and another steering component at the cost or approximately $2,500. I was told that Ford would not provide any help with this issue. I have driven about 5,000 miles since "the fix" with no issues but it doesn't handle like it did for the first several years I have had the truck.
