I have a 2002 f250 5.4.l v8.This was the truck of my dreams.I bought it brand new with only 30 miles.I owned a 2001 ford f150 before this truck but had problems with it so I decided to get a big boy truck.I treated this truck like a baby.My wife was driving it to take the kids to school when with no warning it started to shake and cut off.I had it towed to a ford dealership and they told me that my truck had dropped a valve. It
had a hole in the piston, messed up the chamber, chipped the head, and scratched the cylinder walls. They told me it would cost $5,000 to replace the engine.I just paid the truck off and I have over 50,000 invested in this truck. My truck just turned 100,000 miles.
I would have never thought this would happen, especially with no warning.I am highly upset that ford claims its all in the driver. They accept no responsibility for what is happening to their vehicles. It is a malfunction in these 5.4 engines.
I have been a dedicated ford man all of my life, until now.My wife has a 1999ford Windstar and the transmission has came out and the check engine light is on now.We have sunk so much money into these two vehicles that they should atleast last over 100,000 miles.
If you have experienced any problems with these type of engines please file a complaint.
Next time Im buying something other than a ford.Everyone I know has had problems with them.

My 7.3 Powerstroke blew at 1400 miles. Experts say it was the connecting rod failure. Ford denied my warranty because I had an aftermarket exhaust system and a diesel brake.

They said that the piston, valves, rocker arms, and rings were all damaged. Many people have said that most power stroke diesels do not do this. Ford was going to charge 11,000 to replace. I just had a local mechanic fix it enough to get by and that was 3,000.
