On Wednesday 11/13/13, truck started up normal that morning before I left to my job site. A few hours later around 1:00 p.m., I noticed white smoke coming out of tail pipe and over-heating going on in the engine, even though no indication of over-heat displayed on electrical panel. I had plenty of coolant just put in it two weeks prior to the date above. I have maintained the oil and all fluids and any minor repairs on truck very well so it was not neglect on my end as the driver.
At around 1:00 p.m. I drove truck back to the house and put water in radiator so I could make it home. It started up o.k. but I felt like I lost a lot of power in truck. I waited 30 minutes and then took it over to a reputable diesel mechanic who knew exactly what the issue was when I rolled in shop. The mechanic Robert had already had about (6) other trucks come in the same week after weather changed and got cold with cracking. T
he EGR system and oil cooler which are the two parts replaced. I paid over $3,000.00 to have repaired. If I hadn't been making a good living this month in the remodeling my truck would have been out of pocket due to the high cost to fix. The mechanic said I was lucky that the head gaskets didn't blow. Robert said if I had droven one more day my truck would have been toast. I am very grateful to have been able to fix it.
I am just rip roaring mad that I had to expend myself this much on a part that I feel like Ford should have made better as expensive as their trucks are and being that it's a heavy duty truck that pulls trailers. I feel like the Ford company should reimburse me for my expense and believe that this part is defective after a certain mileage in which it should not go out. Despite many other issues I have had with this truck, this has been the worst! When pulling a trailer down a single lane highway with very limited shoulder pull offs, this situation was very dangerous. My truck began to overheat causing impending engine damage if unable to pull over and shut the engine off. The truck is programmed to protect itself and will shut the engine off automatically. This can lead to a very bad situation. Took my truck in to a service mech., they informed me that the oil motor coolant and both EGR coolants have failed and need to be replaced. The cost for this repair is estimated at 3000.00. So far my truck remains in the shop for the last 3 days. They said the vehicle should be finished in another couple of days. Its not good not having a vehicle, esp when you are out of town. All Im trying to do is get back home! My truck, once again, has failed me. NOT WORTH THE PURCHASE! THIS TRUCK IS A MONEY PIT!

Even though there have been many thousands of complaints against FORD for the problems related to the 6.0 diesel engine, they refused any repair assistance on my F-250 King Ranch. They only replied, "we are sorry to report that you are just outside your warranty period" I had been a true and tried Ford fan until this experience with their honesty and integrity. We have since dropped all loyalty to Ford and their products. Our family and businesses had purchased on average of over $500,000 in Ford vehicles annually. NEVER AGAIN. We now have absolutely ZERO Ford products in our fleet and could not be happier about it. Ford is so convinced that customer loyalty to the blue oval will overlook their failings. Karma has a way of coming full circle to companies that operate like this. Good bye Ford Motor Company!!!!!!
