Today I replaced the second tire from a set of four LT275/70R18E1 bfg commercial T/a A/S tires purchased on November 23, 2010. Both tires were replaced with less than 30,000 miles of wear because of tread separation. Fortunately, in both cases the issue was discovered before catastrophic failure. The separation events happened about 3,000 miles apart. Because of the dangers of tread separation, I went ahead and replaced the other two tires on the vehicle. Because those two tires were not currently exhibiting signs of separation, the tire service company was not able to obtain any warranty proration. I complained in writing to the manufacturer and asked for a full replacement set. I received a reply that basically said for me to work with the tire service company and that the only thing they would agree to would be a proration. This response is totally unacceptable as it is my understanding that tread separation is the result of a manufacturing defect, and since two out of the four tires from the same set exhibited this defect it is highly probable that it was merely a matter of time before the other two exhibited the defect as well. I also found the response to be totally unacceptable because this company has a recall in place for similar tires and therefore should be fully aware of the safety implications.

Driving along a rural road at 50 mph, truck began to shake, could barely hold it in the road. Had tires checked at crossroads Ford where truck was purchased just 5 months ago. Was told that Continental had recalled called tires on 2008 F250 trucks but tires on this truck were not part of the recall. Contratrac P515 46U0 3207. Very dangerous to drive. Crossroads Ford offered to sell us more tires. Unsure what to do.

One of 4 Continental Contitrac lt 275/65 R 18 tires, dot # P5B9 1vub, has multiple (14+) tiny air leaks through the tread of the tire. There is no apparent damage to the tire or tread. The tires have just under 30,000 miles on them. They are the original equipment tires that came with my 2008 Ford F250 2wd manual transmission diesel crew cab pick up which was purchased new.

Within the last 2 weeks I have had tread separation on 2 of my truck tires. I was able to discover the problem before a complete failure due to abnormal vibration and subsequent inspection. These were Continental Contitrac LT275 65R18 tires on my Ford F250. Dot P5B9 1vub with no apparent manufacture date code. The first failure occurred at 24554 miles and the second at 26000 miles. The tires were carefully maintained, the vehicle stored indoors and never off road. The dealership replaced the first with a replacement dot A3B9 479B 4710. I will now fight with Ford to replace the other defective tire and the 2 that have not yet failed. After reviewing the internet it is apparent that there have been a lot of problems with this brand of tire. I felt compelled to report my experience because it is clear to me that this is a defective batch and if it has not happened already, somebody is going to get killed or injured. Please investigate.
