Ford of Escondido in Escondido, CA refuses to replace a bent frame on a 250 Ford Truck. It has been documented by an outside company that it is bent approx. 9 mm (10 mm at one end and 7 mm at another) and came from the factory that way. Ford has acknowledged the bent frame and originally said they would replace it but has now said they would not.
They have put band-aids in the form of a steering stabilizer and new tires at 10,000 miles because of the manufacturer defect and constant alignments. The warranty expires in 6,000 miles. This has gone on for over 1-1/2 years. The techs at Ford of Escondido all have verified that the steering shimmys/shakes causing distress while driving and scalloping of the tires (uneven wear).
The truck is used for transporting heavy construction materials and/or trailers making the defect even more pronounced. If there is a bump in the road, the steering wheel jumps. This is a hazard to be driving the truck but unavoidable because it is used for making a living. Tony Fodor, the General Manager has refused to accept responsibility for this factory default. In fact, they have not provided documentation for 3 of the initial visits to the service department. Seems like that would indicate some sort of cover-up to me. Therefore, an attorney has been hired under the Lemon Law. They have advised that Ford is the hardest corporation to get to accept their wrongdoings. Constant stress about this problem is causing headaches and gastrointestinal problems because it's like a thorn that has festered and can't be pulled out. And there's the very real possibility of an accident waiting to happen because of this bent frame.
