While traveling at highway speeds, crossing over small bumps or other disturbances in the road such as potholes or jointed sections, the vehicle began to shake and shimmy to the point of feeling like it would explode. Happened twice now and only remedy is to slow down considerably until it gets back to normal. Very violent and very scary.

Traveling at highway speeds (over 55 mph) the steering will go into a violent shimmy also known as a 'death wobble' after crossing certain seams in the roadway. I have to brake and reduce speed rapidly to about 45 or 50 mph to regain control. This creates a very dangerous situation due to motorists behind my vehicle having to brake also. Remember, this is occurring at highway speeds. This is not a one time occurrence as it started at about 20000 miles. At that time a dealer replaced the steering damper and at about 29000 that part also failed. I am waiting for my local dealer to replace that damper with a 'redesigned' one. I feel this is just a bandaid on a much more serious issue.

My 2017 Ford F-250 has what is being called at the dealership and online as having the death wobble. I have experienced this wobble both while driving on the highway at highway speeds 55-75 mph and on secondary roads as well at speeds between 35-45 mph. When this wobble occurs it is impossible to control the vehicle as the steering wheel and truck is shaking so violently. This has caused me to leave the travel lane twice and end up on the shoulder of the road. This is going to cause an accident and it will possibly kill either myself or someone else. I took it to my dealership and they stated that Ford is aware of the problem however there are no parts available to fix the problem and no idea of when there will be parts available. Furthermore when I asked if the truck was safe to drive the service representative told me it should be. Safety is a yes or no question there is no gray area. It is only a matter of time before there is a fatal accident involving this problem if it is not corrected.

My truck has had the front end death wobble since the middle of 2019. I have had it in the Ford dealership for repair. They replaced the steering stabilizer and told me they added some shims to correct an caster problem.. they returned the truck to me.shortly after that it began to wobble again. I contacted the same dealer to have it looked at again. I scheduled it, but they immediately told me that the next fix would require parts that were not available. So I am waiting on parts that are supposedly 60-90 days out. There are many documented complaints on this same issue and Ford will not do anything about the unsafe condition. Ford dealers are telling customers that these trucks are not designed to be driven faster than 70 mph or to spend out of pocket money to buy aftermarket parts that are known fixes for the problem. Bottom line is my 60K$ truck is still in warranty and a death trap to drive and Ford is not aggressively fixing the problem. The death wobble happens at anywhere from 50+mph when you encounter an uneven portion of road like a expansion joint at a bridge. The wobble will not stop until you are below 30 mph. When the wobble occurs it is not uncommon that you loose control causing you to be in the oncoming lane of traffic.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle shook and the front wheels zig-zagged toward the right. The contact thought it was due to the snow on the ground but the failure recurred during normal weather conditions. The vehicle was difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to bob maxey Ford dealer (313-392-9200, located at 1833 E jefferson ave, detroit, mi 48207) where the technician diagnosed and replaced the steering damper. The failure recurred, while driving 65 mph and as the driver attempted to exit the road the vehicle jumped the curb, zig-zagged until the vehicle was under control. There was no warning indicator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact called the dealer and was not called back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

While driving at freeway speed, steering wheel and suspension was shaking to the point of about to lose control. Only by driving under 50mpg was I able to safely return to a dealer for service. Hitting a bump in the road amplified the issue. I took the vehicle to the dealer where they stated it is the steering dampening system. They do not have new parts or time of repair. I was nearly in 3 accidents with a semi when this happened. It required immediate attention and resolution before anyone is killed

Crossed over vehicle warranty at 36000... at 38K the vehicle had first "death wobble" at approx 70mph (highway) after hitting minor road imperfection.. vehicle is now at just under 40,000 miles on odometer.. have had 4 other episodes in this brief period of time. This is a major safety issue that will eventually lead to someone's pointless loss of life. This issue is well documented throughout the internet in countless blogs-websites-and videos. To charge anywhere from $35,000-$90,000 depending on model and knowingly put peoples lives at risk over a problem (that my dealership and the Ford customer care program admit is a problem) and not issue a recall or buyback is reprehensible and negligent.

My 2017 Ford F-250 has experienced a severe front end wobble at speeds over 70 when crossing bumps or expansion joints on highway to the point where it is extremely difficult to maintain lane. The only way to get the extreme wobble to stop is to slow speed below 25 mph. I have taken to the dealer several times for repair and each time until the last they state they have replaced parts. This last month I took it in and they stated Ford knows the issue but parts are on backorder. This has happened a couple of times and each time parts come in and they say it is fixed the death wobble comes back after a few miles.

While driving on interstate 64, going over kaskaskia river bridge I experienced a violent shaking, bouncing up and down of the front tires. I think they call this the death wobble. I was going approx 72 mph, tire psi 65, truck mileage 24,600 mi. The truck was lightly loaded and not towing. All maintenance has been done by the Ford dealership from new. I had to brake and pull onto the shoulder, slowing to 20 mph before I regained control of the truck. I took truck to dealer the next day, they said there was a service bulletin on it and ordered parts. Parts are backordered with no delivery date.

At 8,600 miles, while driving down the interstate at 70mph, , I drove over the seams on a overpass. There was a shimmy and then the steering wheel began to violently shake back and forth resulting in loss of control of the truck. The next week I took it into the Ford dealer and they performed a wheel alignment and said the truck was fixed. At 12,000 miles after passing over some minor bumps the same experience happened again resulting in loss of control of the vehicle and having to stop immediately in traffic almost resulting in a auto pileup. Back to the dealership where I got another wheel alignment, bushings replaced. Told it was fixed. Happened again at 17,400 miles, 19,000 miles and 20,500 miles resulting in returning to the Ford dealership.put new steering stabilizer on and said it was fixed. At 23,500 the same experience happened again. Currently scheduled for 4th trip to Ford dealership on 1/13/2020. I have copies of all the "attempted repair" orders from Ford.

In Oct of 2019 my truck, a 2017 Ford F250, developed the "death wobble." While travelling on I-25 in Colorado springs, at approx 65 mph, I was changing lanes over a bridge joint. The truck started to shake uncontrollably, forcing me to cross a lane of traffic. I made an appointment with the dealership I purchased from and repairs were done in accordance with tsb 19-2274. The invoice number was 912963 from phil long Ford chapel hills, Colorado springs co. The truck mileage at the time of service was 24298. The stock tires were/are still on the truck and no modifications have been made to the truck. As of Jan 2020, the truck has started having the same issues. I have an appointment on 17 Jan 2020 to re-address the issue. The current mileage on the truck is 27631 and stock tires are still on the vehicle and no modifications have been made to the vehicle.

Vehicle hits slight pothole and steering shimmies uncontrollably until I slow vehicle to 40 to 50 mph. Took it to dealers twice for steering stabilizer replacement and only temporarily fixed problem. Now I will take to the dealer a third time for correction. Two significant safety considerations when traveling at highway speeds and the 'death wobble' occurs: The vehicle is nearly uncontrollable during the wobble event; and on a busy highway at speed the vehicle must be slowed to 40-50 mph, creating an unexpected slowdown for drivers/vehicles traveling behind.

When traveling at highway speeds between 55 to 70 mph and hit a bump the steering wheel and cab vibrates violently and need to slow down to 30 to 40 mph to stop the vibration. This occurred several times on a major interstate with heavy truck traffic and almost caused a accident when slowing down to maintain control and pull off the shoulder. I got off the interstate and drove an hour out of my way to avoid traveling at highway speeds. 2017 Ford F-250 24000 miles.

I just had two experiences with 'death wobble' in one day and it was my first time dealing with it. I was traveling at about 65 mph hit a hit a bump in the road on a small county road that sent my truck front steering jerking back and forth and I had to pull off the road to get it back under control. I thought it was a tire issue and got out and look at tires and shocks and linkage to find nothing wrong. Second is the worst, I had my family in the truck on the way home and I hit another bump in the road when it started again. I this is very unnerving and I don't feel safe driving especially with family in truck

I was driving my truck on christmas day and hit a small bump on the highway and all of a sudden my truck started shaking violently and was hard to control. I slowed down to approx. 30-35 mph and the shaking went away. This is the second time this has happened. I took it to the dealer and the service tech said it was 'death wobble' and even put that on the service order. They said they would order a new improved stabilizer and that it would it would be take 6-8 weeks to receive the part. I am now with a truck that my wife and grandkids will not ride in and I am concerned about driving it. The shaking is very violent and the vehicle is very hard to control. Then, having to slow to 30mph in a middle lane on the highway is very dangerous and could cause a serious accident.

Driving on highway between 60mph and 80mph if rough patch or bump the road is hit the truck will start shaking violently and the steering will lock up. The problem does not correct itself until the truck is slowed to 30mph. It is starting to happen more often. Today with my kids in the car it happened and I almost hit a concrete highway divider. I have taken the truck to the dealership and was told that Ford is aware of the problem but the parts that are to fix it dont remedy the issue. Basically there's nothing they can do at this point. This problem is going to cause an accident so I am not driving the expensive truck I've had for only a year and definitely will not have my kids in it until something is fixed.
