F-250

  • 30,400 miles
At approximately 50 mph vehicle began vibrating wildly. I stopped and checked for damage and there was none. Took it to my Ford's dealer and they described it as 'death wobble' and claimed to have fixed it. I recently was traveling at 65 mph and a rough section of road caused it to begin the death wobble. I stopped the truck and examined it again. Started driving and the wild vibration started again. I have taken it to another Ford dealer to fix.

When driving at highway speeds of 65mph to 75mph if the vehicle hits a rough bump in the road the truck will violently shake and bounce up and down pulling the steering wheel out of your hands. This causes a complete loss of control of the vehicle. You need to slow down immediatly in heavy traffic to 25mph to get it to stop. This happened to me twice yesterday on a highway trip from Chicago to denver going 70mph on I-76 westbound, May 9,2019. The second time I was almost rear ended by a semi-truck. Somebody is going to get killed if Ford does not fix this asap. I have dash cam video of this but the file is too large to upload.

While driving the vehicle on highways/interstates between 60 mph and 75 mph I will hit a ridge or pot hole on roadway; vehicle will rapidly develop an excessive steering wheel oscillation (aka death wobble). Will have to slow down and almost stop before death wobble goes away. Vehicle has less than 27000 miles on it. This has occurred at least 10 times. The vehicle is all stock with no aftermarket modificatios and have had all rrquired services performed in a timely manner. The Ford dealership where I purchased vehicle has performed Ford's tsb 18-2268 on vehicle; this did not resolve the issue. The dealership has received additional procedures from Ford Motor Company and have performed them; this did not resolve the issue. I have escalated the issue with Ford Motor Company. They have assigned a case number to the situation; please contact me for the specific case number.

"death wobble" occurs when hitting bumps or going over overpass where road texture changes over 50 mph. Vehicle violently shakes and looses control until speed is reduced. This could cause a major accident. Taken to Ford dealership 2 times to repair with no luck. Vehicle is still under warranty and only has 22,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving 75 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle as it experienced the death wobble and shook violently. Also, the vehicle accelerated on its own. The contact and his wife had no control as the vehicle sped through three lanes. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to jim click Ford (6244 E 22nd St, tucson, AZ 85711, (877) 777-9263) where it was diagnosed that a steering damper needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired. While the contact and his family were taking a road trip, the repair failed within hours. The vehicle accelerated in traffic and experienced the death wobble. The vehicle was repaired three times. The vehicle needed a shim installed because the original shim detached from the vehicle's body. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 3,000.

Steering and suspension violently shakes intermittently when going over bridge groove, pot holes, small bumps, and at certain speeds. This is a major safety issue as it is hard to control vehicle when this happens. Known as death wobble. Truck has been at dealer 3 times for this without any progress in removing issue. Someone will die as a result of this issue.

Bought vehicle on Wednesday, 4/3/2019. On 4/4/2019 I was driving home and the truck began to shake uncontrollably after crossing a bridge. After slowing down, the truck smoothed out. Today, 4/6/2019, the truck did this two more times within 10 minutes. I was driving down the interstate. I had to pull over to the side of the interstate and nearly stop before it smoothed out again. I do have a video of the second incident. My child is now too scared to ride in my "new" truck and quite frankly, so am I. I contacted a dealer and was told I had to pay several hundred dollars to fix it even though it is under warranty. That is a separate battle that I now have to fight. This is a problem that needs to be fixed.

Experienced catastrophic steering wheel oscillation (death wobble) at 70mph in heavy freeway traffic after going over expansion joint on bridge overpass. At highway speeds the vehicle will go into a "death wobble" when going over bumpy roads. The vehicle shakes violently and I am forced to slow down to about 25mph in order to regain control of the truck. I took the truck to my local Ford dealer when it first happened and they replaced parts which temporarily fixed the problem. The first incident occurred on 12-22-18 and was fixed on 01-04-19 by replacing the drag link and damper assembly. Today, 03-31-19, the truck did another death wobble at 70 mph.

Death wobble as the dealer calls it has been a reocurring problem on my 2017 Ford F-250. I have taken it to the dealer and asked them to address the death wobble 3 times in the last 15,000 miles. I am still experiencing the death wobble on a regular, but unexpected, basis. I hope Ford will address the issue but I am not pleased with their "solutions" to this problem. It is, without a doubt, a safety issue. The death wobble is violent and out of control.

F-250

  • 45,000 miles
Death wobble continues to plague my 2017 Ford F-250 even after the dealership replaced steering components that were showing wear. It does not feel safe and I fear hitting any kind of bump in the road. Even the slightest bump like a joint in the road will cause an unexpected violent shaking until I slow down to 30-40 mph. Safety is at risk when the death wobble is set off. I hope a recall would hold Ford to a higher standard when it comes to engineering steering and suspension parts. There is no reason to have to worry for your safety when driving a well-maintained vehicle in nearly new condition.

  • 49,000 miles
Death wobble continues to be a problem after dealership replaced worn parts. I have been fortunate enough that it has only occurred on an open road and not a busy highway. I have less than 50,000 miles and it has been a consistent and reoccurring problem for the last 20,000 miles. A recall should be pursued in order to make driving a 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe.
