2017 superduty diesel, problem 1 was a leaking water pump. Truck smells like burning coolant I was told it was normal by the dealer. Coolant finally appeared on ground under truck at around 22,000 miles, dealer replaced water pump. Had to show my ass to get a rental from them as they do not provide loaners anymore. Luckily it was all covered under warranty.

Problem 2 is the death wobble hit a bump in the road at 60 mph or above and the truck goes into a violent nearly uncontrollable shake you have to slow to around 45 or so to get the truck to come out of it. At the dealer now waiting on a diagnose. Death wobble is apparently a problem with these trucks I have found evidence for this all over the web. This is my fourth new Ford truck and as of now I could not or would not recommend a Ford to anyone as all four of the vehicles have gone back to the dealer with some kind of problem before they were a year old.

After researching the issue, I find that people on the internet are calling it the “death wobble”. I talked to the service manager at the Ford dealership where I purchased the truck and she even referred to it as the death wobble. I thought my front wheels were falling off. She mentioned replacing the dampers on the truck, which are parts that are 6 - 8 weeks back ordered. My question is, in researching it appears this will not fix it and the damper will just wear out and this will all start again. Of course I have 28,000 miles on the truck now and in another 8,000 miles the truck will be out of the manufacturer warranty.

I have an extended warranty, but is that going to cover this issue if it comes back. Not only that, is the vehicle going to be safe to drive while I’m hauling my horse trailer. I have a goose neck. I actually tried to take the truck out today and was only going 50 mph because of the shaking that was going on Christmas Eve night. I hit a minor patch of bad roadway and it started again with the trailer in tow. I’m not putting my life, my horse's life and other peoples lives in Jeopardy.

Is this fixable? That’s what I want to know. The service manager says yes!!!!!!

I feel like I just paid a king's ransom for a rolling death trap. Been looking for one of these trucks for months. Finally found one at a dealership in FL that checked all my boxes. Had it checked out by an independent mechanic. He found some worn out front end components; track bar, bushings, tie-rod ends, etc. Dealership said they had their mechanic check it out and said that it was just fine. They assured me it was good to go. They offered a 3 day 300 mile return policy. I decided the truck was offered at a relatively decent price, and if there was ~$1500 (give or take) in deferred maintenance that I need to invest in, that the truck was still worth it to me. (that's what the other mechanic quoted). I picked up the truck.

1.5hrs. into a drive home, got the death wobble. Holy hand grenades, it almost killed me. Lost control on the interstate in traffic, was barely able to get to the shoulder. Issue disappeared below 25mph. I thought, well, I can take this back, and get the run around, or drive more slowly home, and get it fixed at home. Another hour or so goes by, again. Same issue; highway speeds, hit a pot hole, death wobble. This time on the Howard Frankland Bridge into St. Pete. Terrifying. By now, I'm 160 miles away from the dealership. It's one thing to assume some deferred maintenance on a higher mileage vehicle; it's a completely different matter to be sold a rolling death trap that's not safe to drive, especially for this kind of money. I get the death wobble 5 more times driving home to Huntsville; the most notable time being on I75N in downtown ATL, in traffic... I'm lucky to be alive, is all I'm saying. I get home and do a bunch of research. This isn't right. Ford needs to step up and take some responsibility here!!

Death wobble in front end. Put it in the shop in July and August 2019 and they can't find what the problem is causing it. It wobbles so bad that the only way to stop it is to come to a stop in the middle of the interstate at 70 miles an hour. Then at 40 miles an hour on Gauley Mountain. What happens if I wreck because of this problem, who do I sue if something happens? My wife will not drive it due to she is scared of the truck. Something has to be done. It does it if you hit a small bump or rough road. It's dangerous, Ford needs to make a recall of these trucks to fix this problem.

Was on a trip with a fifth wheel which happily was not on the truck at the time of occurrence. The first time it was and only thought it was a bumpy road that cause the extreme shaking. This time however, was on a smooth road doing roughly 65 mph when the right front wheel felt like the wheel was going to come off the truck. Even thought if might have been a flat tire but when I pulled over, nothing was showing. Went by a Ford dealership, who was no help, and explained the issue. I have had 4 Ford trucks and this is my second Ford truck to give me issues. The first was an F150 that they could not find the code for the loss of power after 4 weeks in the shop, traded it in for this F250, now it's giving me fits with the suspension. I plan on taking it in as soon as they can get me in, which is typically 6 weeks before they can inspect it.

Death wobble first occurred at 13k miles. Dealership changed several pieces in front end. Problem seemed fixed. 21k miles its back. Dealership changed steering damper, problem seemed fixed. 33k miles its back. The steering damper is not strong enough for a truck. When it is shot, about every 11k miles, catastrophic failure will happen. Front end shakes uncontrollably, and you have to slam on the brakes. All 3 times this has happened, I have been on the interstate, and almost caused an accident. Once the damper is shot, death wobble will happen every time you hit a bad piece of road at 45mph or higher. It is awful and extremely dangerous. Ford won't do a recall yet, but more and more owners are experiencing this deadly problem, as its all over the net. Wake up Ford and FIX THIS DANGER!
