  • 35,500 miles
At approximately 35,500 miles I had the track bar, a new steering box and pitman arm replaced because of wear, at approximately 36,000 the truck developed "death wobble" 3 times over small bumps at about 50mph. I took it immediately back to Ford and they replaced the steering stabilizer. I was driving South on I 81 in the fast lane thinking they fixed and the truck again went into death wobble at approximately 65 -70 mph and had to brake extremely hard down to about 35 mph to get it to stop almost causing a major pile up as there was heavy traffic at that time. After I got back I dropped the truck at Ford again and told him drive it, which he wouldn't, he said he checked all the steering components and they were tight, he said "take to some place that has a better alignment rack, so I did that and paid out of my own pocket for it. It did not fix the problem, I replaced the steering box to a top of the line box out of my own pocket even though it had been replaced. I have not been able to drive my truck safely since Nov. Of 2018 and it is now Jul. 29th 2019. I cant let anyone else drive it for fear of killing an innocent person, even the mechanic that put the second steering box in did the alignment again is scared to drive it because it happened with him after the 2nd replacement box. After looking for the problem and solutions I have found this is a huge issue. If this is not taken care of people are going die, if they have not already. It is very hard to believe there are not deaths and very serious injuries caused by this as I have been thrown into the other lane several times and drop a huge amount of speed very quickly. I paid $60,000 dollars for a brand new truck and now no one can safely drive it, even the mechanic's are scared to drive it. I have had death wobble at least 13 to 15 times from January until now and at speeds from 45 to 70. Please help !!

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving approximately 70 mph, the front end of the vehicle suddenly began to wobble violently and vibrate after driving over uneven pavement while transitioning from the road to an overpass. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Barton Ford (1600 N. mail St, suffolk, va) and the manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 14,000. The VIN was invalid. The consumer stated the truck was repaired by installing a new steering stabilizer and front end alignment, as well as installing a castor alignment bushings.

Violent shaking front tires, axel, up through to steering wheel at speeds of 45 to 65 mph. I was driving down hill when towing a 5th wheel trailer. Very unsafe condition, can't steer and breaking is hampered. Shaking didn't stop until I was down to 40 mph. First occurrence 12-2018 odometer 39,329. Took to Ford dealer, they made significant repairs. Corrected shaking till 7-14-2019 odometer 42,491. Then started shaking violently again.

While driving down the highway at 65 mph I have experienced the death wobble on several occasions while crossing a bridge.the steering wheel about came out of my hands (moving back and forth left to right) and the truck was shaking violently the truck was taken to the dealer where they fixed it. Now less than 10,000 miles later the truck is doing the same thing. This time it was both on the highway again and on a back country road doing 45 mph.this truck is going to kill someone if Ford cannot come up with a solution. I will not let my kids or wife drive this truck! when it happens on the highway, I must slow to about 40 mph to regain control. I would hate for this to happen on wet roads!!!! I am not the only one this is happening to! please help us!

At certain speeds, if you drive over a rough patch in the road, the steering wheel will violently shake, at which time you basically lose control of the vehicle. This can also happen when driving over raised pavement markers. The same thing is true when driving over a bridge with expansion joints. In all cases, the truck's steering can occasionally experience a 'death wobble'. recently, while towing my 5th wheel trailer 'on the highway', I was driving 60 mph down a 6% grade and hit a small rough patch in the road. The steering wheel shook violently. I briefly lost control of the vehicle. At the time, I was traveling 5 mph below the posted speed limit. I was towing a 12,000 pound 5th wheel trailer. I was able to eventually slow the vehicle down to about 40 mph and the wobble subsided. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced while towing a trailer. The whole time during the wobble, the vehicle was drifting left and right out of control. It happened two more times during the 2 hour trip. It's important to note that it's also happened several times with no trailer attached. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems to involve the steering/suspension. The truck has less than 12,000 miles on it.

Pulling a gooseneck trailer with moderate load descending a mountain pass, when applied brakes, front end went into the death wobble and had to come to a near stop. In heavy traffic on level terrain while braking the same thing happens and had to come to a near stop. After unloading, I tried the same braking on level terrain and had no problem. After unhooking the trailer I tried the same braking scenario and had no problem. The vehicle is unsafe to drive hauling a load, which the vehicle I designed for

While traveling down the interstate at approx 70 mph I hit a bump and the vehicle's steering became violently erratic, jerking the steering wheel from my hands and the vehicle was shaking as if it was being torn apart internally. I had to slow to almost 10 mph before I was able to regain control of the vehicle. This is the 4th time the vehicle has acted in such a manner.

I was pulling a camper down a state highway and hit a place in the road where they repaired a culvert and the steering wheel started shaking violently, I almost lost control before I got slowed down enough to get it to stop. I was only traveling at 55 mph. Since then this has happened around 10 times doesn't matter if I'm loaded or not when I hit rough patches in road or bridge transition. It about takes steering wheel out of my had it's shaking so bad, took to deelership and they said they fixed it but it continues to do it and they say they can't get it to happen with them so they really can't do nothing about it. It's hit or miss when it does it but when it happens you can't control it it's like the wheel is shaking so hard it's locked and won't let you steer the truck to keep it from running off into ditch. The truck only has 24600 miles but it's been doing it since around 7000 miles. Will continue to take it to them till it gets fixed before I have a wreck.

When driving at highway speeds of 65mph to 75mph if the vehicle hits a rough bump in the road the truck will violently shake and bounce up and down pulling the steering wheel out of your hands. This causes a complete loss of control of the vehicle. You need to slow down immediatly in heavy traffic to 25mph to get it to stop. This happened to me twice yesterday on a highway trip from Chicago to denver going 70mph on I-76 westbound, May 9,2019. The second time I was almost rear ended by a semi-truck. Somebody is going to get killed if Ford does not fix this asap. I have dash cam video of this but the file is too large to upload.

While driving the vehicle on highways/interstates between 60 mph and 75 mph I will hit a ridge or pot hole on roadway; vehicle will rapidly develop an excessive steering wheel oscillation (aka death wobble). Will have to slow down and almost stop before death wobble goes away. Vehicle has less than 27000 miles on it. This has occurred at least 10 times. The vehicle is all stock with no aftermarket modificatios and have had all rrquired services performed in a timely manner. The Ford dealership where I purchased vehicle has performed Ford's tsb 18-2268 on vehicle; this did not resolve the issue. The dealership has received additional procedures from Ford Motor Company and have performed them; this did not resolve the issue. I have escalated the issue with Ford Motor Company. They have assigned a case number to the situation; please contact me for the specific case number.
