Sustained steering wheel oscillation (aka death wobble) while driving down a us highway at approximately 55-60 mph I encountered a slightly rough patch of pavement that affected the passenger side of the truck only. The steering wheel started to violently shake back and forth until I slowed to approximately 35mph and the oscillations ceased. Ford does have a tsb out on the issue but they are only replacing parts that have worn out, not the hidden issue that is causing heavy duty suspension parts to wear out so quickly.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving above 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to vibrate violently and shake after driving over uneven terrain. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (vic bailey Ford, 501 E. daniel morgan ave, spartanburg, SC) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. While driving various speeds on a clear road surface, the vehicle shook violently out of control. As a result, the steering column shook violently. The contact stated that the steering wheel needed to be held with extreme force to keep the vehicle in its lane. The contact stated that the failure was experienced on a daily basis and the shaking failure worsened. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

To regain control by lightly hitting the brake to reduce speed to about 20 miles per hour so vehicle stops shaking. I could take a video of it if you like just contact me.

Driving 40mph or faster on highway and run over any type of uneven surface truck shakes and steering wheel vibrates uncontrollably! it first happened when I was hauling my horses and I thought I was going to wreck with trailer in tow! I bought this truck brand new and have never been off roading or anything crazy that should ever make the suspension do that kind of shaking! it was horrific! please issue a recall and fix this problem!

While driving at freeway speeds today I crossed a rough spot on the freeway. My steering began to shake violently from left to right and the truck started violently shaking. If it hadn't been for light traffic allowing me to move over to the should quickly then I would have lost control of the truck. It was terrifying. After doing a quick search online about the problem I found numerous web pages addressing this issue. Why has this not been addressed? no one is getting help from Ford. Some one is going to die.

When traveling at speed, if you hit something on the roadway, uneven pavement, pothole etc. You will get an uncontrollable wobble in the front end. The only way to stop it is to hit the brakes. This has happened to me at speeds in the range of 55mph to 65mph. The steering wheel with shake violently and it is very easy to lose control of the truck. I have had this happen about 6 times since I have had the truck about a year, two ot them almost caused an accident.

Death wobble started at 13K miles. Dealership changed various parts in front end and fixed the problem. At 21K death wobble was back. Dealership changed steering damper. Problem was fixed. 33K its back. The damper is not sufficient for the truck. Once the damper is worn, death wobble happens at speeds over 45mph when truck its a bump in the road. Uncontrolable front end shaking forces driver to slam on brakes until about 25mph when shaking stops. This is terrifying and has almost caused several accidents. This is all over the web. I am not the only person experiencing this. Please, please please look into this. I am petrified to take the truck back out on the highway. The dealership wont fix it until they experience the problem, but wont drive the truck long enough. What they fixed twice, clearly is not sufficient and it has gone again. Somebody is going to get hurt or killed if Ford don't fix this. The truck has never been off road, or abused in any way.

While traveling down I45 at 70mph, the front end of the truck started to wobble really bad and the steering wheel started to wobble bad also. It was hard to hold on too. I slowed down and got off to the side of the rode, at about 30 mph it quit wobbling and I proceeded on. Soon after I was going about 65 mph and it started wobbling again. I slowed down as I did before and it stopped wobbling again around 30mph. I parked when I got home. I went to work the next day and it started wobbling again. Every time I drive it, it wobbles now. I have called dealership and will be taking T in 6 days from today. They could not fit me in until then.

At highway speeds the steering wheel will shake violently after hitting a bump in the road. The bump can be as minor as a crack in the pavement or expansion joint. Larger bumps on rough roads are worse. The shaking is so severe that steering is impacted and slowing to well below highway speed is required to stop the wobble. This is a major safety issue. I have a video, but upload not allowed by your system.

10/19/2018, at 54 mph, on a smooth, 4 lane freeway at 4:30 am, my truck began shaking and vibrating violently as though I was driving on a rolling flat tire. I immediately let off the gas to slow down as quickly as I could without braking; although difficult to steer, I was able to get the truck over to the shoulder of the road to inspect it. I could not determine there was anything wrong with the truck or any evidence I unknowingly ran over something. Later that morning, called 3 Ford dealerships to see if I could get my truck in for inspection, which all 3 told me this issue is know as the Ford death wobble. I was told that my truck couldn't be seen until the following Friday. I contacted my local tire shop whom I have done business with all my fleet trucks and trust their experience in suspension, tire, brake and shock services. The manager told me the same thing about the Ford death wobble. He said he would be happy to look at the truck and make sure nothing was loose, broken and that the alignment was correct. That all checked out fine. After researching this, I learned that this is common for the Super Duty trucks and apparently Ford is not doing anything to correct it. This is an extremely dangerous situation and I hope that the NHTSA takes this issue seriously and becomes involved in the remedy of this problem.

While passing a slower vehicle, I hit a small bump in the road which caused the steering wheel to shake violently (death shake) almost losing control of truck. I had to move back over into my lane before I should of and pull off onto the narrow shoulder which caused about 6 vehicles behind me to swerve to miss me. After slowing to about 20 mph the shake went away. I continued on driving till I was able to pull off into a safe area to inspect for a cause, but did not see anything loose or abnormal in any steering or suspension components. Fortunately I wasn't towing my camper at the time, otherwise I may not have been here to submit this report.
