While driving down the highway at approximately 60 mph hit a rough area that had just been patched by the highway department and the front end started shaking violently. Could not steer the truck and had to brake to 25mph for the shaking to stop. This has happened four times. The truck was bought in Dec 2019 and has 12,000 miles on it. It has been serviced by the Ford dealership and has all original factory equipment. My safety and others on the highway was put at risk when this happened. No warning at all when it happened. This last event was on Nov 18th 2021.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the front end of the vehicle drove over a bump on the road and the contact almost lost control of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle would shake while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment to replace the steering damper. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.

While driving 65mph and passing a slower vehicle I hit a minor uneven spot in the road. The steering wheel started violently shaking and almost caused me to lose control of the truck. I was able to slow down and pull to the shoulder. This is the 3rd time it has happened to me with this 2019 F250. The first time it happened I was headed home from vacation. The next day it happened again. I reported to Ford and they replaced the damper assembly. This last time was the most violent event. I reported on this website as well. 1st event was approximately at 12,000 miles. This time at 24,000 miles. I bought the truck new in 2019. This happened both times without warning. I can-??t get it into dealer until 12/06/2021.

This vehicle suffers from the Ford death wobble on the freeway when driving with the flow of traffic. We were traveling south on I-5 and hit some bumps on the road which began the process of the whole truck shaking. The steering wheel went out of control and the whole body was visibly shaking. There were no accidents but we had to pull off the freeway and stop the vehicle. I have a video of the incident if needed.

Front end began shaking violently at 70mph after going over a rough bumpy patch. Pulled over checked lug nuts (all tight). Started driving and happened again at about 60mph, very violent front end movement again with a series of small bumps. Got off turnpike and drove slow with no issues. Was able to recreate the wobble a third time at about 60mph in a safe area. Going straight each time. Vehicle is uncontrollable when it occurs.

I was driving north on US 521 between Sumter and Rembert, South Carolina. Without warning, my vehicle began to violently shake. I held on tightly to the steering wheel as it was almost uncontrollable. It was an extremely scary situation as I could hardly maintain control among passing cars and a narrow road shoulder. I braked slowly, pulled partially off the road (extremely narrow shoulder after curb), and engaged my emergency flashers. As I was getting out my truck, I assumed I had one or both front tires were flat. Upon inspection, none of the tires were damaged/flat. I then returned to the truck and drove very slowly (30 MPH) to the post office in Rembert, SC to inspect underneath the truck to see if anything was loose or broken. Nothing was found during visual inspection. I had approximately 20 miles to go before I could reach my home; thus, I drove slowly. Upon arriving home, I called my local Ford dealership and told them what happened. They stated Ford had issued a memo stating if anyone had this problem to replace the steering damper/stabilizer. I have an appointment for this November 6, 2021. Later that day, I began researching all the Ford and diesel forums to see if anyone had this same experience. I was amazed how many truck owners had the same occurrence while driving and the condition had a name; the DEATH WOBBLE. I have been researching the death wobble for the past few days and every site/forum came to the same conclusion: replacing the steering damper/stabilizer is only a Band-Aid fix. The problem will reoccur within a few months. Most recommended changing to upgraded shocks, dual steering dampers/stabilizers, and a new front end alignment. Ford has only issued a memo, no recall; therefore, if I had not experienced this I would have never known. I tow a 40 ft 5th wheel and I do not know if I can trust this truck. What would have happened if I were towing my camper? Something must be done before someone is injured or dead.

Today while driving on the highway at 75 miles per hour, the front end of my vehicle suddenly started violently shaking. It felt like a blow out had occurred on both front tires. The entire front of the vehicle shook like an earthquake, and the steering wheel shook so hard that I had difficulty holding onto it to control the vehicle as I slowed to a stop. It was difficult to hold it straight, as not to allow it into the other lane. There were no warning lights or notifications on the dash. I got out and walked around to inspect the vehicle, and there was nothing apparently wrong. I continued driving, and within a 400 mile trip, this same event occurred 3 times. The truck is well aligned, as I can generally remove my hands from the steering wheel and it remains moving straight forward when driving. The tires have a good tread, and they have appropriate air pressure. This was the 1st time I-??ve ever experienced anything like this in a vehicle. After I got home from the trip, I researched online and learned that many people have experienced such events in the Ford F-250 and F-350. They refer to it as the death wobble. It seems negligent of Ford to refuse to recall these vehicles or the parts that need to be replaced. If I had been on an interstate highway when this occurred today, I would very likely have had an accident.

Severe shuddering in the steering after encountering a rough road surface at 65 mph. Heavy braking was required before safe control of the vehicle was obtained at less than 50 mph. Some milder shuddering has occurred at speeds less than 50 mph. The vehicle had 41,000 miles on the odometer when this occurred so normal wear and tear should not be the cause unless the OEM components are defective. The truck is available for inspection and my local dealership has been notified.

I was driving down the highway going 75mph and hit a slight bump on the overpass and my vehicle began to shake very violently. I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway with people flying by me. There was no shoulder for me to pull over and it was by far one of the most terrifying experiences I-??ve been apart of in a vehicle. This is known as the Death Wobble and it-??s a huge safety issue. There was no warning and I had to think quickly on my feet. Luckily my family wasn-??t with me.
