Death Wobble. At approximately 20,000 miles it began to experience the 'death wobble' routinely. An internet search uncovered the problem. The vehicle now has 20,400 miles on it and routinely goes into the wobble on the highway - (3 times on 04MAR23 driving from Orange County, CA to Barstow, CA.) The wobble does not stop until you pull over and come to a complete stop.

FORD -€œDeath Wobble-€ on the Super Duty trucks. The damper. When traveling over 60+ mph and the truck hits a bump/groove the truck wobbles and the steering is hard to control. The truck has to come to a slower rate or a complete stop for it to stop wobbling. It could cause an accident with other vehicles if you aren-€™t experienced. It is at a dealership to get fixed. This is an ongoing problem with Ford Super Duties and Ford is not standing behind their product. I do not feel like this is a customers responsibility. No warning was given. It is very dangerous.

On 11/26/22 while driving on the interstate at approx 65-70 mph, my left front tire hit a bump in the road. This caused my truck to violently shake side to side with the front axle. The shaking was so extreme that i thought i was in an accident and could barely hold on to the steering wheel. The shaking only stopped when I reduced speed to about 5 mph. I was almost rearended by a vehicle behind me. Then again on Sunday 1/22/23 it happened again while traveling on the interstate at the same speeds. I notified my dealer (Bozard Ford) and they inspected it and said there was an extended warranty and they replaced a steering part. I now see that this "Death Wobble" is an issue for many. I'm glad I was not killed due to this uncorrected flaw by Ford. No warning lights in these two incidents.

When going over 60 and hit a bump or pot hole or ripples I-€™m the rode and ect, the tires and steering wheels start shake oh i controllable have to slow down immediately to under 30 miles per hour. This happens when on the highway or any road and Safety is at risk because you can not control the steering during this time and those you from lane to lane and even worse if having a trailer. Also safety at risk cause have to slow down right then and there and hope no cars are around you : You lose all control of steering when this happens / Looking in line it is know issue with Ford f250 and was a recall but I don-€™t see a recall on my truck. It shows it is called death wobble. I paid more for this truck than any vehicle I have had and scared to drive it and really scared of o have my family and grandkids in the truck with me. Not working lights are anything come in it just happens really fast.

I experienced the ford "death wobble" I had $1200 worth of repairs done on steering and suspension parts. 10,000 miles and 7 months later I am experiencing the same problems again. This is a real safety concern because you loose all control of the vehicle at speeds over 50 miles per hour. How long before this problem kills someone? The first time I experienced this problem the vehicle dragged me accross 3 lanes of traffic at 70 mph.

At speeds above 50 mph when you go over uneven road surfaces there is tremendous shaking with the steering to the point that almost leads to uncontrollable steering. The only way to control is to brake to reduce speed. Internet searches for this condition describe it as F series wobble.

I was driving at highway speeds (70 mph) with my wife and mother in law as passengers in San Antonio TX on Saturday, 11 Feb 2023. The highway was 4-5 lanes wide in moderate traffic. Pavement was relatively smooth since that portion of the highway was recently repaved in the past year. We crossed a barely noticeable ripple in the pavement when the steering began to shake violently. There was a tractor trailer truck in the lane to my right and traffic passing me in the lane to my left. I could not control the steering due to the violent shaking while gripping the steering wheel with both hands. I started braking immediately and tried to keep the truck in my lane but the truck crossed into the left lane approaching the median. Traffic behind me was braking hard and crossing lanes to avoid crashing with me. I was able to get the truck stopped next to the median. Had there been a vehicle to my left at the time it would have been impossible to avoid a collision. This incident put our lives at risk and I do not feel safe leaving my driveway in my truck. The truck has barely 30K miles and has been maintained by the dealer. There were no warnings or indications prior to the violent shaking. I will be taking the truck to the dealer asap for inspection.

We were driving on the interstate going about 70 mph and hit a small bump in the road and the truck started to shake uncontrollably and felt like the truck was coming apart. My husband was able to get it to the shoulder and stopped. We've had the truck to Ford Motor Co. and they claim they've fixed the problem by replacing the steering dampener. There seems to be a bigger issue with the F-250 than this. This is a severe safety issue.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, after the vehicle drove over a bump or an imperfection in the roadway, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact had taken the vehicle to dealer where it was diagnosed with a steering damper linkage failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000.

While driving at freeway speeds, my vehicle-€™s front end and steering wheel started to vibrate and shake violently (steering oscillation). I had to slow down immediately and pull to the side of the road to avoid being involved in a collision. This continues to occur on a regular basis and I feel that this vehicle has an engineering flaw and a premature failure in the vehicle-€™s steering and suspension components. I believe this vehicle is unsafe to be driven on the road, because this issue may lead to a traffic collision which could result in serious injury or death.

Violent uncontrollable steer wheel shaking at high way speeds 65-75 MPH. Shaking is unforeseen happens randomly and suddenly without warning. I-€™m unable to steer the truck until I come to a complete stop. So how about you guys do your job before people get killed not after. I know there are hundreds of other complaints like this on here. It-€™s been to the dealer ship twice. once before the issue happened because of unusual noises when steering and once after the issue both times they said everything was normal.

I was driving approximately 60 mph. There were several small bumps in the road and the Truck went into a Very Violent Shake and Wobble. This is commonly known as the FORD DEATH WOBBLE... Very Scary and Dangerous. The Vehicle was extremely hard to control. Luckily the service advisor at Coggin Ford had warned me about this possible condition. I was told if this wobble ever happened to let immediately back off the accelerator and not Touch the Brakes"? I did exactly as he said and was able to get the truck into the Emergency Lane where I slowed down in a slow and dangerous way. I took the Truck to Coggin Ford. The truck has only 21000 miles. They claim it just needs an alignment and a steering Dampener which was already changed by Ford at 2500 miles? The service department told me that the parts are unavailable but the think it needs an alignment? The alignment was fine until the Death Wobble?" This is a dangerous condition that could have killed myself, my daughter or other drivers... Please let me know what the NHTSA is doing to prevent this from causing accidents and let me know what my options are... Thank you, Philip Monson 904-487-8936

My vehicle has the death wobble and it is getting worse. When the vehicle is operating over 50mlh and hits a bump, it can begin to shake violently and will not stop until I slow down to 25-30th. This is difficult on trips with my camper and on mountains on interstate highways.

The F250 will violently shake in an uncontrollable and unpredictable manner on occasion. It typically happens at speeds over 40 mph when encountering any variation from perfectly flat pavement. Ford has an extended warranty to cover the engineering and design failure of some portion of the steering and suspension system; however, the part is backordered and unavailable to make the covered repair. The vehicle is available to be inspected. The engineering and design flaw causes the vehicle to become uncontrollable while trying to come to a stop endangering the occupants as well as anyone or property in the path. The problem was confirmed by a ford dealer and was stated -€œit is a known issue with the vehicle-€ It has not been examined by anyone other than the ford dealership. There were no warning signs from the vehicle; however, an internet search revealed numerous incidents that sound identical. Ford was contacted multiple times, they said they would contact me in reference to a solution 3 times. They never did contact me, when I was able to inquire I was met with an indifferent attitude about my safety and others safety.

My complaint is commonly know as the -€œDEATH WOBBLE-€. This has been going on with Ford trucks since at least 1973. I have personal experience. The problem is while driving on the highway, if you hit just a small pothole, the truck begins to shake violently and will not stop until you slam on the brakes and slow considerably. This is extremely dangerous on the highway with the possibility of loosing control. It-€™s bad, and Ford has known about this for at least 50 years.

When hit a bump a in the road the front end goes into the so-called Death Wobble. It is a really bad shaking of the front end like your wheels are going to come off. Had to slow down really fast and move to the side of the road. What causes this and how can it be fixed so myself or someone else if injured or killed.
