  • 32,810 miles
When driving at 55 mph and I hit a bump in road and the veh. Shook so hard I could not keep in my lane. This has happened twice. First time Ford said it was steering damper, replaced it (around 18K mile) today it done it again (32810 miles) both times the incident occurred on a curve. I had to slow down to 30 mph to get the shaking to stop. Call me if U need to [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While traveling at highway speed (65 mph), I crossed a bridge transition strip which was rough and the vehicle went into the "death wobble" condition. I had to carefully run off the side of the road and bring the vehicle to a stop before I was able to exit the "death wobble" condition.

At 19,000 miles my truck would shake if you hit any kind of bump over 45 mph. At lower speeds it feels 35mph and lower like the whole front end rattles. Took I to the dealer and they said it was just the steering stabilizer and that all other joint and bushings were tight and ok. 3,000 miles later I am on a trip to spokane wa. Then back to helena, mt. Approx 630 miles round trip. On the way to spokane the front end seemed to bouncing around any time we hit a bump or uneven bridge deck. On the way back to helena it only got worse. I almost lost control on my truck 5 times as it seemed like the whole front end was going to fall off the truck. My wife was so scared that she wanted me to stop and let her out. This is my wife's daily driver and now she is to scared to even drive it anywhere. I went to Ford and told them that I had researched the problems that people are having with the same issue and it sounds like Ford just throws parts at them hoping it will fix it. These truck are going to kill someone if they done get it figured out. I now have a $50,000 truck sitting in the garage because I am to scared to let it out on thew road cause I do not want to be responsible for the death of my family or the motoring public. I am thankful that I was driving and not my wife.

Traveling on a freeway ramp to merge onto another freeway traveling about 55-60 mph, and went over a rough patch, steering wheel started wobbling uncontrollably. Slowed down to about 40 and wobbling stopped. Resumed normal travel, never went over posted speed limit of 65 mph and slowed down for bumps and rough patches.

Front wheels shake and steering wheel shakes after hitting rough spot or uneven area on road at speeds above 60 mph. This condition is commonly referred to as a "death wobble." It is very dangerous and needs to be repaired or corrected. It occurs when going around a curve, but can happen when going straight.

I have lost steering control once at 70mph and once at 45-50 mph after hitting minor pavement bumps. The so called dreaded death wobble and both times nearly caused an accident the dealer supposedly fixed problem back in fall and now it's doing again and no longer under warranty I know longer feel safe driving this truck and that's ridiculous for a 2019 vehicle by the number of complaints you see on this I can't believe there has not been a recall issued when this is by far the most dangerous of the four recalls I have received on my truck laughable really what is Ford waiting for someone to be killed I was very near rear ended twice when slowing down as fast as possible so as not to lose control and either go off the road or hit vehicle beside

Death wobble. Steering wheel shakes violently and is easy to lose control of vehicle. Requires immediate slam on breaks to stop. Has occurred at speeds 50 mph to 70 mph on any street surface. First occurrence was at approximately 10,000 miles and occurred every time driven until warranty department replaced steering stabilizer. It took 3 weeks to obtain replacement stabilizer. Second occurrence occurred at 13,000 miles. Vehicle cannot be driven and is in back in service department for repair currently. Serious safety issue.

This is a new 2019 Ford 250 Super Duty truck. In February 2019 traveling at about 75 mph( on a major highway) & I hit a groove and my front end went in to a horrible heavy head shake.it was not the first time but this was the worst by far. In dallas traffic surrounded on all sides. The only way to stop this head shake is by hitting the brakes hard. To do that on a major highway with traffic on all sides is horrifying. Took it to North central Ford and there is a damper recall (among others). They replaced the damper. These dampers are not much bigger than a golf club. Are not made or rated to support a truck with over a 10,000 lb weight limit. Now here we are in July and its back in the shop. Since March there has been 2/3 more upgrades to this damper. Because of the strong head shake? it ruined other things connected to damper (drag link/bushing). Even with this new upgraded damper they expect it'll be back in. They offer a after market " dual-damper" (700$) that should correct the problem. This is a new truck and it should come with Super Duty parts!!! someone is going to hurt themselves and or others because of negligence. Truck should be out of shop tomorrow, I called corporate to try and get the dual damper approved and I am on hold. So as it stands this will be the 3rd damper that has been replaced since getting it in October 2019.

  • 14,500 miles
On July 3, 2020 at 7:10 am, I was driving my 2019 F250 with 14,500 miles on the odometer when I experienced the death wobble as the problem is know. I was driving 65 mph when I hit a rough patch on I45 South in houston, tx. And my vehicle's steering went violently wrong. The steering wheel shook side to side as if my front left tire felt like it was about to fly off. I applied light braking as my vehicle uncontrollably veered right into another vehicle that was beside me. Luckily the other vehicle was able to brake and let me into their lane without creating an accident that would have caused a multi-car accident. Once I finally gained control of my vehicle I was inches away from colliding into the cement barrier along the feeder road. I have always noticed a bit of an issue in the steering but only thought it was a stout suspension in being a 4X4 F250 diesel. After doing some research the "death wobble" issue seems to in the steering components and alignment from the factory.

I have experienced the death rattle/wobble with this vehicle which I bought brand new in November 2019. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and so does the undercarriage. I am not a mechanic so I don't know if it's the suspension, steering wheel or the wheels themselves. When I go over 25 miles an hour after hitting a bump on the road I experience this rattling. Also I hear the rattling below the engine like a loose muffler when I go over this speed.

I was traveling at 74 mph on the interstate and hit a rough spot at which time the vehicle began to wobble to the point I had no control on direction of travel. I got below 45 mph and came out of the wobble. Continued on at 66 mph and hit another bump and went into another wobble. Gained control when I got back under 45 mph.

I was driving my truck down the freeway and also on city streets with my family young kids included and once I hit 55-60 my truck started a "death wobble " as they call it I couldn't control my vehicle it shook so violently till I slowed down to 45 then it stopped.my family was scared my truck only has 17K miles on it brand new truck. Ford should not be selling vehicles with these problems what are my options and what can I do ? I don't want to drive my truck again till problem is fixed but I don't have a choice. I'm gambling with the personal safty every day so I can make a living.

Violent steering shake & wobble after crossing an over pass, pothole, or any kind of bump at speed. Truck is uncontrollable and unsafe to travel at highway speeds or towing of any kind. Dealer admits problem is common and a service bulletin for condition has been performed. Problem persist, clearly this should be a safety recall.

I was driving 70-75 mph on the highway when my F250 truck started violently shaking (aka the "shake of death" or "death wobble") and was unable to control the truck. I almost crashed. All my belongings in my truck were all over. The vehicle almost flipped. Its a miracle I was able to make it out alive. I took the truck to the dealer and they "fixed" the "damper asy". Ford is not acknowledging that this is a serious ongoing problem with many customers. Doing research I realize how many close calls and injuries people have suffered due to this problem on the same year Ford trucks, there is also a class action lawsuit that's been pending for a while apparently. There should be a recall on all these trucks before tragedy happens!

While driving 60 mph on the freeway (posted speed limit 65mph) pulling a trailer loaded with 3000lbs of material (trailer rated for 7000lbs) that was secured with 5000lb tow strap I drove over a rough patch of concrete in the right lane. Truck felt like it was almost jumping to the left, steering wheel shaking violently, I completely lost control. The truck veered left drastically and I crossed 3 lanes of the freeway and slammed into the median wall at approximately 20 mph. More than $15,000 in damage to the vehicle. It is a miracle no one was injured.

The truck suspension is completely stock with 24000 miles on the vehicle. I had the tires rotated at last service 1500 miles before..
