My 2004 Ford F-350 6.0 diesel. Hesitate or surges while driving, and/or the engine may stall while driving at all speeds including highway speed, will lose power steering and brakes and when at a stop it will lunge forward. The engine may or may not restart after stall. I feel that this is a great safety concern I have almost lost control of my vehicle on a few occasions while towing my boat and going around corners. I have heard of other people having the same problems with their 2004 6.0 diesels. Please help!

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated to approximately 5 mph and the limp home mode message appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was safely driven to an authorized dealer, where the contact was informed that the egr and oil coolers needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the failure was common. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. The contact stated the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle began to function with difficulty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the grv valve, oil cooler and the turbo had to be disassembled and rebuilt. The dealer stated the hoses were too small to control the oil flow and that was why it had to be rebuilt. The dealer stated the vehicle was designed by manufacturer in that way. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

While driving my 2004 F150 and approaching a red light or turn my truck will intermittently shut off and need to be restarted. On several occasions I have had to put both hands on the wheel and crank (no power steering) or both feet on the brakes (no power brakes) because the truck turned off and I lost all power functions. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal if the dealer in my area hadn't told me this was "normal" for F150S and sent me on my way. Since that dealer I have dealt with 2 others in my area who say its normal and to just drive my truck until it fixes itself. I wasn't aware that Ford made self diagnosing/fixing vehicles. In either case I am extremely upset that this problem is for some reason not considered a problem and that there is no current fix for this issue. I no longer feel safe in my truck and have resorted to driving my parents vehicles until I can rid myself of this death trap. On another note I have also had the vehicle flash dash board lights at me after going over small bumps and then shutting off 1/4 of a mile later. When this problem was brought up the dealer said it was impossible (it's happened twice) and that I had to be imagining it.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph when the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted and was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed as the ficm wiring harness needing replacement. The dealer advised that the failure of the ficm wiring harness caused the fuel pump and injector to fail. The vehicle was repaired. The manufactured was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,800.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F350. The contact was driving at approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly began to shake and jerk forward. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact that the egr cooler and three fuel injectors were the cause for the failure. The vehicle was repaired at that time. Later, the high oil pressure pump and oil cooler failed. The vehicle was awaiting further repairs at the time of the complaint. The contact called the manufacturer but was told that she would have to assume all repair costs at her expense. The failure mileage approximately was 121,000. The current mileage was approximately 130,000.

2004 F350 6.0 powerstroke boggs when taking off. Sometimes will act like you turned off switch when you push down the pedal there is no effect. Mostly when driving up the mountain its like it don't go past idle has not stalled yet. 8 injectors replaced front and rear injector harness replaced high pressure pump fuel mileage 13 mpg. Head gaskets replaced egr cooler rear main seal all under 65,000 miles.

: the contact stated upon starting the vehicle the oil pressure dropped and the engine died. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where it was determined the oil pump and the lower intake manifold gaskets failed. The oil pump is made of aluminum which influenced the integrity of the pump, and caused the pump to wear out prematurely. The dealer was alerted of the problem, prior to the independent repair shop making the repair. Updated 5/10/2006 - the vehicle leaked coolant which caused the vehicle to overheat but the temp gauge did not indicate that the vehicle was overheating. The coolant also flowed through the egr valve which caused lose of power.

Diesel smell in the cab of a Ford F350 truck with 6.0 engine. This is the second instance of this in this truck. Both have been covered by warranty, but the first time was in may of 05 and the second time was Feb 06 is this going to happen again. The smell is sickening and if you do not open the windows eyes water, feel tired, sick to stomach, all not good for driving down the road (people really look at you like you are nuts when its 5 degrees outside and you are driving around with your windows open). This time it has been blamed on the exhaust manifold, the first time it was what they called the down exhaust pipe. I believe that there is a bigger problem which has to do with the 6.0 engine. Too much pressure for the exhaust. The other problem is with the radiator hose. I have 46700 miles on the truck and the radiator hose has to be replaced due to rubbing on the power steering gear box, Ford will not cover this under warranty, even though they have come up with a new hose and new part number to stop this from happening. I have not been told if they are replacing the hose with the old style or the new style.

Loss of pulling power on my 2004 Ford 350 Super Duty. The truck will lose power to pull under even a small load. When pulling out I have to have a large area of no traffic, have had several incidents where I came close to being hit in the side when I had a power failure and pulling onto roadway. I have had the problem looked at by a Ford service center 11 times and they can not repair the problem and refuse to repurchase the truck.

We have had several incidents where we are driving the vehicle and it will begin to shake and a puff of black smokes comes out of the exhaust. Then shortly after this happens, we you stop at an intersection, the vehicle will die. This has happened several times. Have had it into the Ford dealership on five occasions, they have said it is fixed, when it is not. When hooked to the computer, there is a definite problems. This last time, the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. They say that their computer did not show any problems. There is obviously a problem or we would not have taken it in. We are making the payments and insurance, yet it sits in the shop. Have been in driving this vehicle that on 3 occasions where it has stalled in an intersection and could have caused an accident. Also has stalled at least 20 times when slowing for a red light or stop sign.

Contact stated there has been two recalls that have been serviced. But the consumer was still having stalling problems. The service dealer inspected the fuel injector control module harness and replaced the injector control pressure sensor and rep the air charging cooler duct. Most of the time the vehicle stalled was when the vehicle is first taking off, it loaded up with smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. This vehicle did not stall every time the consumer drove the vehicle. Consumer did not want to contact the manufacturer, he would not get any resolution from the manufacturer.

There are toxic fumes coming through the defroster when it is turned on. Which is distracting the driver on the road. Manufacturer had been contacted by consumer. The consumer purchased a carbon monoxide detector in which the vehicle registered 40 ppm. As the weather turned cold, the consumer was unable to use the defroster or heater due to the diesel fumes from the exhaust system. The consumer suffered nose bleeds and his mother-in-law had become ill while riding in the vehicle. Two dealerships stated that they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The engine died while going down hill to a stop at times, the vehicle stuck in 4X4 low, driver door molding was coming a loose, head light was inoperative at times and the switch was replaced, the rear door did not line properly and leaked air therefore both rear door upper seals were adjusted.
