F-350 6.0L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

As a many-time owner of Fords, I am writing to let you know of the disappointment I have in this company. I am an owner of a 2006 6.0L F350 (the 4th Ford I have owned) who started experiencing problems with a component within the transmission. I took my truck in to find out why it was not running correctly and they found the fuel injection module not working correctly as well a problem EGR valve/EGR cooler with a leak that leaked into the turbo. My truck only has 63,000 miles on it and even though it is a 2006 it was already out of the 5 year warranty when I took it in October 12, 2010. Upon researching these problems across the internet I have found that multiple customers who have a 6.0L 2006 Diesel engine have had many similar problems with the EGR valve, fuel injector module and head gaskets costing people thousands of dollars for repairs. In my particular case I was quoted $3,600 for the repairs including excessive cost for labor because of the poor design of the truck and the need to remove the cab to make the repairs.

As an American-made vehicle, I expect a higher standard. When a company realizes there are faulty parts on their vehicles, they should be accountable for their faulty design and take corrective action. My family, many of my friends and myself owns only Fords, in the future, we will not be looking for a Ford. I am a hard-working individual that deals with the shakes when they come without complaint. But this is unacceptable behavior from an American company that builds their trucks “FORD TOUGH.” An American company I thought I could trust has let me down by using sub-par parts in their vehicles and has ignored the multiple complaints of the customers who were promised a “FORD TOUGH” product. My friends, families, co-workers and colleagues will all know of the shoddy workmanship and the lack of interest that Ford has to correct known problems. I doubt they will be as loyal as they have to Ford and I know that my family and I will not be.

Signed,

A very disappointed customer.

F-350 Lariat 6.0L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

Do yourself a favor. Don't purchase a Ford diesel between the years 2003 and 2010.

"Bulletproof Diesel" has an aftermarket kit to permanently cure the problems with the EGR valve, Cooler, engine oil cooler, weak cylinder head bolts and gaskets if you do buy one of these Fords. It will cost you $2500 plus about 11 hours of labor at a good repair shop.

F-350 XLT 6.0L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

I brought my vehicle into ford several times and each time the truck was repaired with the same known defective parts only to break down again and I come to find out after that ford had known about these problems all along and has chosen to stick the owners with the problem. Being a contractor In the last 10 yrs. I have purchased several new trucks 6 chevy, 2 ford, out of the chevys I have had 1 problem with the injectors, chevy fixed the problem right away and Voluntarily extended my warranty just to make sure I wasn't hit with a bill later. My ford however has been a disaster and instead of doing the right thing ford has chosen to put back the same parts that caused the problem to begin with and left me with almost 7000.00 of problems 23 days after my warranty is up . I just think it's important for people to know what there getting into when they purchase a new ford.
