This is the second ford I've owned and the second engine that has failed under 90000 miles. I've owned countless other cars without any real problems. I would never purchase another Ford vehicle and will actively try and discourage anyone I meet from buying one for the rest of my life. They are garbage. I work in the tree industry as well and work and see many heavy duty trucks from different manufacturers. By FAR the Ford trucks have many many more problems that run the gambit, and typically are in the shop often for expensive repairs. I only bought this particular truck against my better judgment because it looked to be in great condition and for a good price. Whoops, never doing that again. FORD IS DEAD TO ME!!!!!

This 6.4 diesel engine is a very, very sorry piece of sh*t engine. I have records of all the maintenance done at the Ford dealer in San Antonio, Texas still the engine went bad again. Honesty this 6.4 engine FORD should recall and make good. For the amount of money that this truck cost it very very costly. At this moment I can't get rid of the truck because I'm upside down financially and Ford won't even give a penny for this piece sh*t truck because of the engine. The truck spend more time in shop or broke down. At the moment I can afford to fix it because of how much its going to cost me to fix it or get a new engine. Yes I'm very upset and pissed at Ford.

the 6.4 diesel engine ford uses in 2008-2010 full size trucks and vans is poorly designed.

at approx 8,000 miles i had to get out onto an expressway, so i floored it from 0, the turbo spooled up and by 30 miles an hour the engine started rattling, misfiring and blew out a huge cloud of blue grey smoke, i slowed down and drove about 2 miles to the dealer. being it only had 8,000 miles and was less than 5 years old, it was still under warranty. ford determined it leaned out too much, and damaged several cylinders. as a result they wanted to replace the engine with a rebuilt. here's the shady part....i idle the truck a lot for commercial purposes, and built into the speedometer is an hour meter, ford determined by some formula that my idle time caused the engine to be out of warranty for the amount of mileage i had. they said it the repair was not covered and it would cost about 12,000 to install a rebuilt engine. i made many calls including several to ford fleet department, and NOBODY could shed light on this formula for determining hours to miles and to how that will place the engine out of warranty. it still sits today, a complaint has been filed and we're waiting. i did a lot of research, i'm surprised there's no other entries for this engine on here for the same or similar problem. search the net for for navistar 6.4 diesel problems. look for warranty claim issues between ford and navistar over this engine, i believe that's why ford is designing their own diesel for 2011, they got tired of navistar's quality issues. i found numerous fails online for 6.4 diesel engine at low miles DO NOT BUY A USED FORD TRUCK WITH THIS ENGINE!!!! if ford does decide to fix it, i plan on babying the engine for the rest of the time i drive it. this diesel is used in 2008 to 2010 ford full size trucks. technically manufactured from FEB 2007(called 2008) to 2010

BOUGHT NEW F 350, diesel 6.4L, 2008 model. 12/2007.so much engine problem Ford replaced ENGINE at 37,817 miles on 12/2008...at Ford again for replacement of injector #1..12 17 2009 at 60683..1 15 2010 engine won't run, mileage 61,800....now warranty people deny coverage due to water in fuel,,,,all fuel from commercial fuel source at filling station,,,,seems to be convenient excuse,,,dealer will not stand behind,,,Talked to Ford warranty,,,like talking to third grader,,kept repeating mantra of water in fuel gets them off the hook,,,yet,,extended service plan also states damage not covered if vehicle is under "continued operation "if fuel contaminated,,,which it wasn't ,,it simply stopped running,,any ideas,? should this be covered by comprehensive insurance like a flood ? looking for answers
