The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 55 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 40 MPH, lost automotive power, and stalled. The contact stated that the message -??Please Slow Down -?" Engine Protection Mode-?? was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the highway and restarted the vehicle; however, the vehicle started shaking abnormally before shutting off independently. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel pump was faulty and had caused damages to the engine. The contact was informed that the engine and the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal after stopping, the vehicle was slow to respond. The contact stated that there was several minutes before the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure occurred after coming to a full stop. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while towing a loaded trailer, the vehicle was losing traction, and the rear end was swaying to the right and to the left. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that during the failure there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that 3 months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle experienced brakes failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that all four brake pads and calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred while depressing the brake pedal, with an abnormal metal-on-metal sound coming from the brakes. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact was observing that the check engine warning was illuminated and that he was having engine misfires. The contact stated that he was also hearing abnormal noises from the engine compart all prior to receiving the recall letter from the manufacturer. The contact stated that the failures were reoccurring until he was no longer able to start the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the high-pressure diesel fuel pump had failed. The fuel pump and the fuel system needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the fluid levels were at sufficient levels. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed as fuel contamination. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised of a recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V013000(Fuel System, Diesel) which had a similar failure description, however, the contact's VIN was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel system. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure.
