Truck Stalls, almost causing load to roll over on the side of the road, with a serious embankment.
Towed to Asheboro Ford. (Mileage 172796)
Estimate of $10,000,500 claiming they must remove the entire fuel system including the tank, injectors fuel lines, filter system, high pressure pump which failed causing the problem. Actual cost, $11,700.
I get sick before they knew what COVID was, and do not use the truck, and truck mostly sits because our business closes because of clients not being allowed to use our services because of the COVID problem.
04/29/21 (Mileage 179056), brought back to ford for "check engine light", indicating a bad injector. I was told I had to wait for the diesel mechanic who only come in on certain days for some reason. Ford fixes that. No charge
Approximately a few months (near end of August) later at mileage 182000 check engine light comes on indicating a different injector is bad. Ford claims 2 more injectors are bad but they can not get parts and will notify me when they come in. I told them I needed the truck for a couple of months and they said it would be safe to drive, and bring it in when I get done.
Approximately October 13, while towing equipment from Moorhead City NC to New Bern NC, I started smelling antifreeze and noticed my engine temp rising. I was leaking from the top radiator hose because when Ford changed the air filter that I did not ask for, they put a clamp on upside down causing the clamp bolt to rest on the bottom of the hose, eventually wearing into it. I had to use bottled water, which I had 2 cases of, to keep filling it so I could get to the Ford dealer that was a half mile away, on Rt 70 in LaGrange, NC. (That cost over $300, and could have ruined the engine if someone else was driving and tried to make it to the job site). LaGrange Ford located a hose and changed it for me, but informed me that there were 3 bad injectors, not 2. The latter being injector 6. They reset the computer because they were afraid it would go into limp mode while I was driving. I called Asheboro for and told them what happened, and they said they would order the #6 injector also.
I return home the second week of November and call to make an appointment but have to wait until the diesel mechanic is available. I told them I would be away for a week. I get an appointment for Monday November 10. I call because it was later in the afternoon when I get home to see if I can bring it in only to be told I can, but my warrantee ran out 2 weeks ago and I will have to pay for the injectors and installation because the mechanic never put a work order in all this time. And that they were not going to reimburse me for the money I laid out at LaGrande Ford because of Asheboro's wrong doing. I also need new antifreeze because my antifreeze was diluted by the bottled water. (My opnion. If they did not make a work order, how did they order the injectors?)
My claim is that if they had the parts available when the second and third injector went bad, I would not have been charged. The fourth injector I would have had LaGrande Ford install at no charge. I also have concerns because of WHY are half the injectors failing so soon. (Every few thousand miles). I notice they never changed the fuel tank, (Asheboro claims they cleaned it out and that is all they had to do. Not what they told me in the estimate). I asked to have all the old parts they replaced but they said they have to send them back to Ford, and would not give them to me. I am sure I will continue to have injector failure because Asheboro did not do a good job cleaning the system from the pump failure that we paid over $12,000 to have fixed, or the new pump is already failing, creating debris in the system.
9/23/2001, Tried to make contact with the Asheboro Ford manager. Was told he was at a pod casts and would get back to me. But as of yet, nothing.
