My mechanic who has years at a FORD dealership says that it could be the new ulta low sulfer diesel fuel mandated by the EPA. I have to buy an engine now. The flaking burns through when engine finally starts. However the particulate left around the injectors seems to harden and until engine gets back to temp it expanded the space around injectors forcing a loss of compression. Where is the legal action I have a sample of the fuel looks like glitter in the fuel. Dealer called rust when I took it in for cam sensor recall. I am not rich bu smart I am. How do you get rust in a plastic tank?.

have a 2000 ford f-550. has 350,000+ miles and just put in a brand new engine and transmission. Problem-the inside of the gas tank is rusting. When fueling the truck you must put fuel in so slowly not to stir up the rust. If you fuel to fast the rust clogs the fuel filter and the truck simply will not run. If you run the truck too low on fuel it does the same thing. ABC news reported that Ford knowledges this problems due to the steel fuel tanks but so far no solution from Ford.
We earn a living with this truck and it's extremely anoying when on the road and you have to take 20 minutes or more to fuel the truck. Also, you must stop for fuel when the truck is right at 1/4 fuel. If you don't the truck will stop for you!! Ford is having a banner year and shouldn't they take care of the people that are taking care of them?
