Fiesta Style 1.2L

I tried to adjust my seating position and the adjustment bar (under the driver's seat), completely broke off in my hand. I cannot move my seat, therefore cannot sit correctly. The seat is so far back, that I have to have a cushion pushing me forward, as I cannot reach the pedals properly. I took the car with the broken bar to my local Ford dealer, where I purchased the car and they said it should cost £575.00 and that they would negotiate with Ford, that they make a substantial contribution towards the cost of the repair, as this is obviously a design fault, and also considering that the car is only 4 years old. The bar has completely broken off, which no-body has ever seen before, especially in such a young car. I took the car to the Service Department, and they telephoned me saying that Ford has refused to contribute to any cost of the payment towards the repair. I am therefore expected to pay the full amount.

I feel that I should not be paying for the repair, as there is a fault in the metal framework. I have had older cars in the past and not only has this never ever happened before, but no-body else who i've mentioned it to have ever experienced this problem, with any of their cars!!!!!
