1.5 years later battery dead reported to dealer that rear defroster was on when the engine was started. It was Easter and by the time I left the car and the mechanic saw it, about 10 minutes God rewired the defroster and the dealer told me to beat it, they would not replace the battery. Dealer said the new modern cars use a lot more electricity and that is why the car eats batteries. I had a mechanic check the defroster before I went to the dealer and he confirmed the defroster was wired directly to the ignition. On the day I went to the dealer there was an eighth of an inch of ice on the back window and I saw the defroster clear the ice within a few minutes, except for one of the wires on the window I had accidentally scratched.

The mechanic lied. I have extended coverage and still the dealer would not replace the battery. I notice on the web that dead batteries are common on this vehicle. In most states the driver would never use the defroster and would not know it was on all the time.
