Fiesta HB SE

  • Manual transmission
  • 77,274 miles

When I purchased my vehicle back in Aug/Sept of 2015 I noticed that it had a ticking/ clicking sound. I presented it to the Ford Suburban dealership, the place I was purchasing my vehicle, and the service people said that it had something to do with my transmission and for me to now worry about it. Well, after reading about all the complaints and a terribly scary experience I encountered I am not happy with this vehicle at all and is now looking to get rid of it and go back to a foreign vehicle. This is my very first American vehicle I ever owned, I was very excited about it at first, now I am sure I will never get another 'American' made vehicle ever again! Thank Ford! You Suck!

problem #1

Fiesta SE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

This car has been making a rattling/rubbing/vibrating noise from the dashboard area or engine area directly behind the dashboard since right around 1,000 miles. I had it in the shop around 8K miles and it was left as "investigating" (no known cause). Last week I put it in the shop again (12.8K miles) and had a tech go with me for a test drive. The tech confirmed he heard the noise and verbally said it sounded like the "transmission". The next day they called and said they confirmed with Ford that this was the cause of the noise and it was a "known problem". They had the car for 8 days while they replaced "parts in the transmission". The paperwork stated that they "replaced clutch". Less than 1 mile away from the dealership the car started making the noise again. It also has the "check oil light on" even though they didn't do an oil change and had they test drove the car after working on it they would have seen the light (you would assume). I will be calling them again Monday to tell them that the transmission replacement didn't resolve this issue.

Update from Apr 8, 2012: I opened a case with Ford after taking the car back to the dealer for a follow up visit. The dealer provided me a document from Ford stating that this noise is considered "normal" and therefore does not require a fix. Basically since we already purchased the car we simply have to live with the noise. The document also refers to several noises including "...a grinding noise at about 2 MPH" as a "common characteristic" and "normal".

Unhappy with this response I opened a case number with Ford and was contacted by a regional customer service representative. I encourage anyone with a problem like this to contact them and do the same (800-241-FORD (3673)). The rep called me back the next day and re-iterated Ford's position that this is considered within "normal specs". I disagreed but couldn't get any resolution. I will gladly share this document with anyone that is interested.
