Fiesta

  • 85,000 miles
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. While driving 50 mph, the rear passenger door became ajar without warning. After several attempts, the contact was able to securely lock the door. The vehicle was not taken to have the vehicle diagnosed. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15V246000 (latches/locks/linkages) or 17V210000 (latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

Rear door flew open while driving. Faulty door latch. My VIN was not one of the 500,000 recalled but it still failed. I had to pay dealer out of pocket to fix. Known safety issue. I should not have to pay for something known to fail in a vehicle known to have the issue. Could have been serious if pet or cargo were in back.

Fiesta

  • 39,855 miles
The vehicle was stationary in a parking lot. The rear passenger side door abruptly failed to latch after opening and closing it. The latch was examined and externally appears the same as on the other doors. Manually moving the latching mechanism shows it fails to latch even upon locking the car doors.

Fiesta

  • 36,000 miles
Yesterday the door latch on the front passenger door failed, resulting in the door being unable to remain closed. Thankfully the car was stationary in my garage when this occurred. This is a commonly reported problem on Ford Fiestas, but when I took my car into the dealer for repair they said that my car was not covered under the existing recall, and as such I had to pay for the repair. My fear is that given this is a known problem with Ford Fiestas, the door latch on my other doors will fail, and next time I might not be lucky enough to be stationary in my garage, and there is the significant potential of causing an accident.

Upon parking the vehicle and opening the door using the outside handle, the door latch on the front passenger door failed. The door would no longer remain closed. I needed to hold the door closed while driving to a dealership for repair, as it wanted to swing open (especially during left turns).

Moisture can enter the HVAC system and freeze during cold temp causing the blower motor to freeze, leaving it inoperable. The vehicle was parked overnight on a cold night. Windows will not defrost during cold temps resulting in a safety issue.

Passenger door latch failed and car door flew open as I was making a left turn on a street and door latch would no longer work.took my car to Ford and they said my car was not included in the recall even though other 2013 and 2014 Ford Fiesta's have had recalls for the same problem.I sent the recall I found and a picture of the numbers on the door latch that was removed. I have the email from the Ford service center and the receipt where they charged me to look at my car.

On 10/26/16, we (4 of us) finished shopping and got back into my parked car my daughter exclaimed that the rear door behind the driver seat would not close. We tried numerous times to shut it, even peered into the latch area, but didn't see anything like the other doors. It was around 5:30 P.M. we had nothing to secure the door, so we moved my grandson's car seat to the middle and I sat in the back seat and held the door while my daughter drove us home slowly. The next morning I used a rope to hold the door while I drove to the Ford dealership and they fixed the latch for $344.40. I used my car payment to pay for the repairs and I was told my vehicle was not listed on the recall list. If this happens to all my other doors, it will add up $1377.76. I have a copy of the repair receipt. I can scan for you if needed.

Sep 152016

Fiesta

  • 80,000 miles
Front passenger door flew open while making a left turn at approximately 25 miles per hour. All doors were locked at the time. The door will no longer close properly. The incident nearly led to an accident and driver had to pull over to the side of the road to try and close the door. Apparently the current recall doesn't cover our specific 2014 Ford Fiesta even though many 2014 Fiestas are covered by the recall.

I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow 7/29/2016 ---. camelback Ford in phoenix Arizona. Luckily I noticed it when I got back from the supermarket today. The car is now parked in my yard. I will get it to the dealership tomorrow. My son tied the doors closed. I do not have to go on the freeway to get to camelback Ford.

Door latches for passenger front, and both back doors have failed. They have came open while driving, I had to tie the back passenger and front passenger together with the seat belt. The latches are made of plastic and are completely broken. I had young children riding in this vehicle at the time. I took to Ford on 7/22/2016, and they wanted 800+ to fix the latches even though there is an open recall on them. They also let me drive my vehicle away in this condition, knowing it is unsafe. I only have 38,264 miles on this vehicle.

Rear driver's side door swung open when I was mid-left turn on a city street. I immediately pulled over and attempted to close door. Latch does not seem to be working, door would not close/stay closed. Door had to be tied and bungee-corded shut inside the car (through backseat). Warning alert continues going off, letting me know rear door is still open.
