I am very disappointed in my 2014 Ford Fiesta I bought 9/14 had the first transmission problem a couple of months after I bought it. Now the problem is occurring again but it is acting worse. I am so upset I was hoping I got a good car but I guess its a lemon. Ford need to do something about the transmission issue.

I used to work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and had a lot of 2014 Fiesta's and Focus' in my fleet. From day one of receiving these vehicles there was a problem shuddering at different intervals of speed and customers complained. I was reassured by Ford this problem will be fixed and expressed this to any customer renting one of these "problem" vehicles. I was in a bind and needed a personal vehicle to get to work so I decided to get a 2014 Ford Fiesta because of the Ford reassurance. Again, from day one this vehicle had shuddering problems.
I live in Toronto so the traffic is horrendous so being in stop-n-go traffic with the transmission acting up is not ideal. I called the dealership in which I bought my vehicle and they proceeded to tell me that there was a back order in parts (the seal I am pretty sure they were waiting on) and I would have to wait to get a transmission problem fixed on my brand new car! I was not impressed so I expressed my concern to Ford Canada who magically got the dealership to take my car in right away and address the problem. From my knowledge, the dealership took a seal off another vehicle just to get me out of their hair - kind of rude if you ask me! I was again reassured that Ford has fixed this problem and I shouldn't be feeling the shudder or anything, this service was completed on my vehicle in April 2014 (2 months after I got my car).
Since than, I have had the EXACT same problem. Shuddering and feeling the shift between speeds and AGAIN being in Toronto this is completely unacceptable, I could be in an accident because of this crap! I started to loose faith in the dealership where I bought my car so I decided to go to another Ford to see if this problem could be fix. This new Ford dealership told me I had 3 recalls on vehicle, none of which I was made aware of, 2 of the recalls were for the transmission and 1 was for the mySYNC. At the time of the recall appointment I was told one of the recalls would be completed and the shuddering and the shifts would go away. This service was complete in September 2015. Since September there is STILL a shudder and I now have to choose my time wisely to ensure I do not get stuck in traffic. If the vehicle is at a constant speed nothing happens but once there is a fluctuation the shudder happens.
I honestly believe Ford should have figured out these issues at the beginning and provided their customers with actual legitimate reassurance to ensure each customer feels safe in their vehicle. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY 2014 FORD FIESTA.
Finally, the dealership I bought my vehicle from in the beginning had the nerve to contact me and let me know about the Ford trade-in deal for customers with Ford Fiesta's/Focus' with the ongoing transmission issues. Giving $1500 towards a new vehicle is completely ridiculous! I have lost more money in figuring out the status of this issue than the $1500 Ford is suggesting on giving back. I personally think Ford should be cutting the cost of the vehicle in half due to these issues, it is not fair for myself or anyone to feel unsafe in a BRAND NEW CAR - that is why the majority of new vehicles are bought BECAUSE THEY ARE NEW AND ISSUES SHOULD BE FIGURED OUT BEFORE LEAVING THE FORD LOT!
My suggestion to anyone getting a new vehicle is to stand up for what you believe in and if you hear, feel, or smell anything the car company head office should know about this!

Was given the run-around at Ford Simi Valley (CA) yesterday. Had an 8:30am appointment (was there at 7:35am), got a call at noon saying my car would be checked around mid- to late afternoon. Informed at 4:39pm that it would take 2 days for my car to be fixed. I asked what specifically needed to be fixed. Was informed, after a while, that it would now take 1 week for the part (clutch kit, I asked for the part number and was given a wrong one; I had the TSB in front of me while talking to the service rep) to be ordered/delivered. I told him he told me earlier it would only take 2 days for the car to be fixed; he told me he didn't talk to the mechanic yet when he gave me that 2-day timeline. WTH. Talk about incompetence and lack of communication. Told the guy to just send for a shuttle so I could pick up my car and have it serviced elsewhere. Of course it took almost an hour for the shuttle to arrive.
I know warranty service/repairs are a low priority for dealerships, but they should have given me a better (first-time) customer service than what I just received.

We began noticing take off from a full stop would intermittently cause a shuddering to occur around the 20k mile mark. Took the car into the dealership for an oil change and told them about the shudder. Per the repair slip "verified customer concern, vehicle has shudder. Performed visual inspection OK, ran ECC had no codes. Per TSB 15-0120 reprogrammed TCM and performed adaptive learns, ran pid data on quick key and recorded 383 rpm slip, ordered clutch."
Clutch will be in in about 8 weeks. Asked service advisor what the deal seems to be since I read this website prior to dropping off car. He stated the clutch is an issue and Ford has redesigned them about 5 times and this last rework seems to be working and that is why the part is on backorder. We will see.
Since picking up the car I haven't noticed anything but I will update once a clutch has been installed.

I've had my Fiesta in the shop 3 if not 4 times for the same problem, every time I find it very annoying. This is our only family car and I don't feel safe having my son ride in it knowing it shakes and stalls when I take off. I do not pay $300 a month for a car that isn't working. This problem is a recurring problem and I need either my loan paid off or out me in a different model other than the Fiesta. I have also talked to 3 different people and the main customer service number and I feel I'm just getting beaten around the bush and I'm not getting any help at all.

Why would a dealership sell a vehicle knowing there is a problem with it. Now I have a new vehicle that is worth absolutely nothing because nobody wants a problem. Dealerships answer to this was; Oh, that is under extended warranty. Just bring your NEW car in and we will put new clutch plates in...Should have kept my Metro.

Ford has under warranty replaced approx. 8-9 sets of discs, a few modules, a differential, this has been going on for almost a year now, and in 1st few months also w/pump, m/cycl., front steering linkage, you name it and now trans. Sometimes won't go when stepping on gas pedal.

I am from the Philippines and I purchased my 2014 New Ford Fiesta 1.5L Sport AT Hatchback color Phantom Purple from Ford Commonwealth in Quezon City. Since I purchase this vehicle I had always had transmission issues.
This intermittent shuddering with the transmission is such a serious issue and I can't believe Ford has no better way of fixing this problem to help their customers. I have almost gotten in several accidents because of the SHAKING, JERKING, ZERO POWER transmission. Some days are worse than others but this car is absolutely horrible to drive and can be extremely dangerous.
1. The first time I took it back to Ford Commonwealth in Quezon City (Philippines) I was told it was normal. Now I remind you we are talking about a brand new car. This didn’t sound right.
2. On my second attempt I brought it back to Ford Commonwealth in Quezon City (Philippines) I was told that the car need it to be reprogrammed again this didn’t solved the issue
3. For the 3rd time took it back to the same dealership Ford Commonwealth in Quezon City (Philippines) to have it re-programmed for the 3rd time.
4. I tried several attempts trying to escalate this issue thru this dealership and nothing has happen as yet http://www.fordcommonwealth.com/contact-us/ it seems that this dealership has no idea on how to handle this transition issue. Why is Ford being an American company does not keep their dealership abroad inform of the car issues and or re-calls.
I am very disappointed with Ford for not taking responsibility of their faulty transmissions and to the dealer where I purchased the car “Ford Commonwealth in Quezon City (Philippines)†for not having qualified technicians that know how to fix or diagnose the transmission issues. I wish my dealership service department stops saying is normal for the transmission to have this kind of issues. How inept and ignorant can they be? A single google search shows thousands of hits reporting this problem and filed complaints.

As others have said, "this is REALLY DANGEROUS!". I was told this problem was the transmission. It has been in the Ford Service Dept. Three times, 1- Couldn't recreate the problem, 2- Worked on it, 3- Replaced clutch in transmission.
The car is again SURGING, LOSING POWER ; in the path of oncoming traffic ; on the freeway; EVERYWHERE!

If I had wanted a standard transmission I would of bought one.....This is really a deal breaker. As I drove it, it got worse. Took to dealer where I bought it, to the service department, they said there was nothing wrong with it. Even had the manager drive, haha. When I left, it was shuddering when I was taking off. If the jerk that sold it to me would of told me that it had a different transmission in it I wouldn't of bought it.
I am so mad right now, so I am stuck with this lemon. Told it would take about an hr. to check, they didn't put it on the computer, was told if no light it would show nothing. I hate this car, since it has started doing this. We are going to look at Chevrolet this weekend. Why should I be stuck with a lemon at only 7500 miles on it? Am I missing something.
Update from Jun 16, 2016: well they updated the clutch in 11/2015, But 6 mths started the same thing again. I filed a lemon law suit. Bought brand new 2014 Ford Fiesta SE. I don't know if THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM? I bought a big fat lemon as far as I am concerned. Oh there is class action law suit against the Ford Motor Co. I got in on that also.
My lemon law attorney doesn't do much for me right now.

This intermittent shuddering with the "manual" transmission is such a serious issue and I can't believe Ford has no better way of fixing this problem to help their customers. I have almost gotten in several accidents because of the SHAKING, JERKING, ZERO POWER transmission. Some days are worse than others but this car is absolutely horrible to drive and can be very very dangerous.
I have been getting the run around from Ford about this leased car for almost a year and still have not gotten this issue fixed. Customer service was horrible at trying to make things easy for me and I've been to the dealership so many times. The "customer service regional manager" was so rude and did not care that this car as unsafe to drive. The service manager acted like he knows about how severe this issue but there's nothing he can do to prevent me from driving and unsafe car because the new clutches are on back order for two month and this problem is happening in so many vehicles.
This whole process with Ford has been an absolute nightmare and am literally embarrassed to be one of their customers. I am at the point where I'm ready to get an attorney and "trash the piece of garbage."

I bought my Ford Fiesta, new from the Ford dealership in September of 2014. Right away I noticed some hesitation when I went to accelerate after having slowed down. I would slow down then hit the gas and the car would not respond, it would make a loud revving or roaring engine sound then suddenly jerk forward. I asked them about it about a week after I bought it and they said that I just needed to drive it around more because there was a computer in the car that "learns how I drive" and adjusts accordingly... which I thought was weird. So I drove it around for a few months and the problem seemed to be not as noticeable, either that or I just got used to it.
Well it started hesitating to move when I hit the gas REALLY bad starting a couple weeks ago. It's gotten to the point where I legitimately don't feel safe driving the car. If a car doesn't respond immediately to your actions, like hitting the gas, that could be the difference of LIFE and DEATH if you're trying to avoid an accident. I took it into the dealership today so we'll see what they say. Already when I called I started getting fed some lines of BS about how "Oh that's just how some newer automatic transmission cars drive these days. It's because of the smart computer system etc." NO. Just NO. There is no way in hell a car is supposed to NOT MOVE when you PRESS THE GAS PEDAL.

About a month after buying my 14 Fiesta I started to really notice the shudder when starting off. It seems to mostly occur between 2-3 gears.
I finally took it in to the dealer. They updated the firmware on the car and it seemed to run better for about a week. After that...same stuff. It doesn't happen every time. Sometimes it occurs 10 times in a row, sometimes its one in 10 times. It's clearly going to wear on the engine and the transmission.
Dealer now claims "that's just how they are". Riiiiight. That's how all new cars are...
Shoulda known. Never buying a Ford again.

I got fed up with trying to get Ford to fix the shuddering/grinding DCT transmission in my 2014 Fiesta titanium car, so I took it to a Mitsubishi dealer and traded the piece of Ford Junk in for a nice high quality Japanese Auto which I am very happy with . I realize that this is a drastic solution but I'm 82 years old and I do not want to spend the rest of my life fighting another corrupt evil mega-corporation. Just to let all of you know.....I only got $11,950 trade in value ( it cost me $21,465 new!!!) how is that for Ford Quality??? I will never buy another Ford car again and I've told all my friends to stay away also!!!!

According to the dealership, it will take a minimum of 3 months to get the problem looked at. I was offered a rental car if I don't feel safe but cannot have my companion dog in the car so I had to decline. Instead I only drive when absolutely necessary. I cancelled a business trip (to beautiful Yosemite) because I'm afraid of the car. I'm a disabled woman who needs reliable and safe transportation. I almost caused an accident yesterday because the car did not down shift when I was getting around a disabled vehicle. And then it wouldn't slow down when the transmission finally did pop into gear. Scared me to death. Now I'm too afraid to go anywhere. Did I mention I'm only getting 17 miles to the gallon now? Thanks Ford.

The transmission feels like it slips several times when starting from a complete stop or accelerating. I scraped the paint off the wall to pay for my daughter's college and get her a newer model car for better reliability, since we live the the DFW area and she's going to school in San Antonio, but now I think the old '99 Alero may be more reliable than the new Ford - 2014 Fiesta hatchback. From what I understand, Ford claims this is proper operation for their relatively new, "innovative" transmission - I call total BS. No one would produce a car that shudders on take off intentionally. Leave it to Ford.
I've read a little online about a class action suit against Ford. If anyone has any contact info regarding how to get in with that, please holler.

I purchased a 2014 Ford Fiesta in January 2014 from Cresent Ford dealership in High Point, NC. I have had the shuddering/transmisson problem since I have owned the car. I called the service department to take my car in and was told that the computer had to be reset, so that is what they did. Car would seem ok for about a week or so and would start again with the same problem shuddering. Took the car back and they told me they had to replace the clutch in the transmission. So once again i though ok maybe this is finally fixed. Well i was wrong continued to do the same thing took the car back in and the kept it for 2-3 days and drove it and told me they couldnt get it to do it for them. Problem still continued and i took it back again and not sure what they did at this point I had lost track because the car has been in the service department more times than it should be. So the problem continued took the car in this week on wednesday 5/6/15 and they said the had to do the update and it should be fine. When the car started shuddering this last time for the last 2 weeks my gas milage has changed tremendously my gas is only lasting 3-4 days verses normally when i feel my car up it will last me a full week and the indicator is fluctuating alot. I am not doing any more driving than my normal routine and when i took it this last time i told them about it and they said it would help with the gas since they did the update. When I picked my car on 5/6/15 the car continued to shudder. So at this point i am very frustrated with this issue. So I went back to dealership today 5/7/15 and spoke with Tony Bertschi ans he rode with me and and the car did the shuddering while he was in the car. He said he was very aware of the cars doing this. He told me that he had 5 cars right now that are waiting on them to come in and that this is a known problem with the fiesta and focus. Stated this was not a safety issue it is a charactor problem. With that being said I feel that I am paying 18,000 dollars and i have a car that they r telling me cant be completly be fixed and that is not acceptable. I have and know my rights as a customer and according to the LEMON LAW this car has been in the shop atleast 4 plus times for the same problem under the 24,000 mile that it reads. My money comes hard and I feel like this is unfair to me to be paying for something that is having this many problems it is not my fault. I hope we can resolve this or i will contact my attorney if needed. thank you for your help and hope we can resolve this!!!
- Kelly C., Kernersville, NC, US
I have taken the car to the dealership twice. Nothing was ever fixed. I have seen on-line about the problems with the transmission for this vehicle.
It bucks and shutters when it is shifting through the gears. I feel that this transmission will not last long if this keeps up. The dealer does not want to hear about the problem.
What do I do next??

We bought this car last year for the wife, since she does a significant amount of driving with her job. At first we were very excited about the car and how well it seemed to run. Then one day last year, I noticed that the transmission seemed to slip a little when I was taking off from a dead stop. I asked my wife if she noticed it and she said no. I may drive the car once a month and I noticed it every time. Now with 18000 miles, wife is now noticing it on a daily basis.
I contacted Magic City Ford Roanoke, VA where we bought the car and left a message with the Service Manager about the problem. He has not called back yet, but I will give him some time and see if he does. We have been loyal Ford Customers and hope that they take care of us on this.
Also one other problem. Just recently radio would not cut of when ignition was turned off and door was opened. Went to start car last night and everything was dead, no interior lights, would not start, would not do anything. I jumped started the car and everything started working properly even the problem with the radio was resolved, but the battery was not dead because i stopped and started the car 5 times without jumping or charging the battery. Not sure what that is all about, but it is making me worry about the reliability of this new car.

I have had it with my complaints to the dealers about my Ford 2014 Fiesta! two days after I bought this car it started to shudder, shake and make noises while I was trying to accelerator the car to move from a stop sign or a traffic light. I took it right back to the dealer I told the service man about it, he said "on that's normal on this car" I told him I don't want (normal)...I want it fixed.. the guy laughed and said, "lady that's a newness of the car, give it a few months to get broken in"..I took his word on it and each week I would call over to the sales person and service man to tell them, there is something wrong with it! Then a few months later I moved over here on the East side of Fl and I take my car to Ford on this side..When I kept happening, I told them about it and they would oil change my car and tell me the same thing, it just has to get broken in and that will stop!! It gets worst at times and then as I start to drive on a hwy it will do the same thing, not just from stop to start buy, driving and then going into the hwy lane! I called Ford itself and they said same thing, oh it will stop once you brake in the car...It never stopped...I need someone to get me a different car..its to scary to drive.
