Fiesta LE

  • CVT transmission

It first wasn't that bad but now its gotten to the point that after the car warms up it shudders when ever I either accelerate from a stop or after slowing down to turn. It use to do it on occasion now its several times a day. I took to the dealership and they said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get the parts...Hopefully it will last that long and from what I have been reading its not going to fix the problem...and will eventually start doing the same thing again. I have only the one vehicle and cannot afford to be with out one...

I purchased this car new in 2013. The dealer had complaints from other customers with this transmission. They already had letters printed to give to everybody that came with the same complaint about the transmission. I also had along with the shudder at take-off, the noise and pause when pulling out from a complete stop. I was afraid the car was going to pause so long that I was going to be hit.

An update to the computer and put more miles on it. Give it time to adjust to your driving. Also the battery ran completely down for no reason. I had to call the road service to jump-start. I told the service department about this and was told to start my car everyday and let it run awhile, as I was not driving it often enough. I could also purchase an add-on to keep it better charged.

My husband has a lot of medical issues. Diabetes, dialysis, high blood pressure and an amputation. Both times the car would not start, we were going to a medical appointment. We purchased this car so we could be sure to get to these medical appointments. He is also going to be evaluated for a kidney transplant and we will have to go to Pittsburgh, PA. It is very critical for us to be able to make these appointments and make them on time. My nerves are frazzled.

Fiesta S 1.6L 4 cyl

My 2014 Ford Fiesta, that I purchased new less than a year ago, started shuddering badly each time I took off from a complete stop for 2 to 3 days before I turned it into the dealer on Monday, November 17, 2014. It at first it only did it on inclines, going from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. In 3rd to 4th, it would shudder then finally lurch into gear. I didn't pay much mind to it since it didn't happen all the time. In fact the above description is when the problem started becoming more of a problem than a, gees, that was weird. Periodically through out the 11 months I've owned this car, it would crow hop as you crept along in a parking lot or it would shudder when you braked and then accelerated too rapidly. I figured it was just the TCM trying to catch up to what I was doing. Wrong.. this was the beginning of the end.

When I told Rico, the gentleman that helped me at Hemborg Ford, what was going on, he knew exactly what was up. He told me there was a known issue with the auto transmissions in the Fiesta and Focus and his lot was full of these cars. That day he added mine to the collection, set me up with a rental that's covered under my extended warranty, and told me it'll take a couple days to look at it. On the next day, Tuesday, I got a call from the dealership saying my car was ready and parts were on order. I immediately inquired about the parts, the last time I spoke to Rico, he said the TCM needed an update and that was causing the issue. After pulling many teeth and speaking to the service manager, Robert, I found out the part on order is a clutch, and the fine folks at Ford Motor Co says if the vehicle is "drive able", they will not continue to extend the rental...so, long story short.. they are sending people home in cars with busted transmissions! I expressed my concerns about driving my car in that kind of condition, since I put 54 miles to and from work on my car Monday thru Friday. Totally not safe to be driving a car with a busted transmission. Thankfully Robert has a conscious and emailed Ford, pleading my case, so I got to keep the rental. And good thing too since what was originally presented to me as a 2 day fix is now going on 3 weeks!

I have written Ford an email that I've sent to the head honcho himself and there has still been not one word back. It seems apparent that Ford thinks of its customers, especially those that bought Fiestas, and thinks that its perfectly alright to drive a car with a huge component going south. I can't believe how irresponsible Ford is being with this recall.. that I never got notice of.

If you are considering buying a Ford, 1st off, don't... and if you do, don't let them put you into your car again with it being busted.

Transmission slips, shudders, disengages. Due to the transmission problems the car doesn't get out of it's own way which is a huge safety problem. Took to the dealership and when I picked up the car stapled to the invoice was two pages from the repair manual, Mitchell?, with certain areas highlighted telling me what I should expect from this transmission. One being a trailer hitch effect, shudder upon acceleration, noise when the transmission is going between gears and...

Now had they given me the same sheets before I bought the car, which I did ask if the trans problems had been fixed, I would never have bought the car. Had I wanted a manual and drive it like someone that's never driven a manual, that's what I would have done. Misleading? I believe we all have a right to sue for not providing accurate information regarding the transmission issues. The dealerships are lying and not upfront with known information and especially after being asked if the transmissions were fixed.

How about rather than a lemon lawsuit we go after Ford and the dealerships for misleading us, the consumer, and not supplying us with accurate information about the transmissions before purchase..

Fiesta S 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

Car ran great when it was brand new. At around 10k miles, a light shudder started whenever the transmission would shift, especially in the lower gears. At 12k it was bad enough to take it to the dealership.

At first they said it was normal and that if the shaking was not bad enough then Ford would not allow them to fix it. When asked how violent the shaking had to be, we were told that if our GPS stayed on the dashboard, then it was within normal limits. After nearly an hour of refusing to leave, the technician FINALLY agreed to hook up the car to record the data from the car. The car did vibrate greater than the "acceptable level" defined by Ford, so they reluctantly agreed to fix the car... Three weeks later.

When our appointment finally came, we waited for five hours and all they did was reprogram the PCM. The car shuddered on the ride home. The shudder was slightly improved, but still obvious. Now we are waiting for another appointment to take the car back to the dealer, again.

Problem did cause a near miss accident. Pulling out into traffic and trying to accelerate, the transmission shuddered and would not shift to the next gear. Essentially there was no power and I couldn't safely merge into traffic and almost got hit.
