My key fob would not unlock the doors, so I just put the key into the driver's side door and it won't unlock the door either. So I'm thinking (wistfully hoping) that it is just the fuse. Weeelll, fuse number 63 is BEHIND the fuse panel and it is okay. So for over a week I am going ghetto and crawling very ungracefully into the passenger side and getting violated by the hand brake and the stick shift and falling with a thud into the driver's seat. Once I can't take it one more day, I go to my mechanic and he says it's the door lock actuator. The Ford place says the part is $250 if I have the anti-theft system (which I do). I'm just about ready to paint mine orange and call it the General too. Then I could run and jump into the open window and look way cool (which would work if I wasn't almost 50 and slightly...okay, fairly overweight). But it is ridiculous that this locks the driver door and it can't be opened. That is dangerous. This really should be a recall.

Car doors won't lock or unlock. Living in a high crime area, this is worse than a pain in the ass. It is downright dangerous. Thanks, Ford, for yet another stupid problem with this car.

The only part of my car that I can use my key to unlock is my trunk. I'll have to remember that if someone is trying to attack me if I go shopping late at night.

Will open with key. The truck latch will not catch and hold. Does fine when it is cold out, but when it is warm it just will not close. The automatic switch to open the trunk is worthless..as is the automatic opening by the handle inside the car.

Only thing that I can see is that the plastic piece that covers the latch catch gives when it is hot therefore the latch is not catching and holding.

Again, bought this car March of last year, doors everything was just peachy for the first few months, Now I find that on ocassion my rear doors will not unlock. Yes they are power locks, yes we've checked the fuses yadda yadda, I've got children that ride around in that thing! Definitely not safe if something should happen and they can't get out...most assuredly annoying but not the first nor the last of my problems with this car...I do not believe I will ever buy another Ford

Door locks stopped working, alongside the dash board & temp control lights, took to ford they said door lock actuator, blew all door locks and took out dash lights, thought it sounded fishy to me as the gas gauge would go full empty full empty, decided to pass on the 600.00 repair, so got ambitious this weekend, looked for the fuse for the door lock, nowhere to be found, thank god came across this site and found out where it was hidden, drop the fuse panel fish in between wiring harness, used a mirror first to look and find it, replaced the fuse, all worked except drivers door, decided to take door panel off, to look at actuator,(another paid), decided to just unplug it and put it all back together, still have no dash board lights or thermostat lights, but have 3 doors back on power lock and trunk, and it has not blown yet.

There is always something wrong with this vehicle! The automatic door locks stopped working the same time the key got stuck in the ignition. The manual says to replace a fuse located on the "back side of the fuse panel", ok, where is that??? no one seems to know. Can anyone tell me!? I miss not being able to lock my doors without having to walk around the car. Winter is coming and I am not looking forward to dealing with this problem again.

This problem is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive to repair and should be covered under a recall. Ford needs to act responsibly and issue a recall for this, The actuator is at fault and it is a disgrace that for this kind of problem to block all the doors from being opened even manually!

Focus SE

At first, it appeared my remote central locking had merely blown a fuse, however after 4-5 days of procrastinating in replacing the fuse, I was shocked to discover that my key no longer worked in the driver's door! No problem, I thought...I unlocked the passenger door and slid over the center console to the driver's seat and headed home....Pulled in the driveway....problem. NOW the manual unlock toggle near the inside door handle appears to be stuck in the locked position as well, and no amount of wiggling/forcing/rapping with my fist/etc seems to want to make the door unlock, from either the inside OR the outside. Power windows still work, which has paid off, since I sometimes have to park on the street, parallel to a rather steep grassy drainage culvert on the passenger side. Better to exit General Lee style than to slide down the muddy slope. The big problem in fixing this issue is going to be removing the interior panel to get to the (apparently) faulty lock actuator. I may need to bite the bullet, do some surgery with my sawzall, then live with a Frankenstein repair or go junk yarding for a new interior panel. In the meantime, my coworkers get to laugh at me, or perhaps admire my amazingly thrifty choice of commuter car!!!

Rear passenger door got stuck. Power locks do not work because of it. Does not open at all needs to be taken apart from the inside with damage to the panel. Very dangerous if in accident doors can potentially fail and you will not be able to open them. This is one of several major problems with this focus.

Focus ZTX

I have to say this is the most crappy problem to have.

1) I have been told by ford it will cost me $95 an hour to "find" the problem.

2) No, they cant tell me how long it will take to find the "exposed or ungrounded" wire

3) My normal mechanic won't touch it because its a ford

Has anyone paid to fix this?! If so how long did they take?

This affects remote keyless entry (possibly the alarm too!) Power door locks, and power trunk pop on the dash and remote.

One day my drivers side door wont unlock or open....talk about a pain! I had to crawl through the passenger side door to get into my car! I took to to a dealer to have it fixed and they ended up telling me the cost to fix it was something insane(I don't remember now what it was) but yeah this is only one of a LONG list of problems I have had with my focus.

This same exact thing has happened to me... One day the fuse sounded like it blew the next thing I know all of my power locks are not working and my passenger door is permanently shut!! I hate this car so much and has given me nothing but problems. I had to also replace the ignition on the car because it slowly stopped working. What a terrible product and a recall should be put into action. Hard working American people are buying an American product and are not getting a quality vehicle in return. We are buying an unsafe piece of garbage. This is just a disgrace and no wonder people decide to only buy foreign vehicles.

FORD needs to recall this death trap. Our rear driver's side door is unable to unlock, the fuse #63, which is harder to find than Waldo, keeps blowing and my key is permanently stuck in the ignition as soon as the temperature drops below freezing. This car is worthless. NEVER buy FORD, horrible.
