Takata recall I am having problems with all door and trunk latches. The left rear door will not open at all. The right rear door will only open sometimes from the inside but it is a struggle. This is also the case with passenger front door and driver door. Recently (4 days ago) the driver door started not opening. Trunk will sometimes open with key and will not shut all the way.

I was pulled over on my way home from work almost midnight, and was notified by the officer that I had no taillights, but my turn signals and hazard lights were working. The license plate light and running lights are not working either. In addition, several months ago the dashboard lights blew a fuse, and have repeatedly blown the same fuse. I saw that the wires on top of the hatchback, inside the rubber tube, are cracked and broken. I saw online that this is a recurring problem. There could have been an accident, as I work second shift and always drive in the dark. I don't know how long the lights have been out.

Problems with inserting and/or removing the key from the ignition key slot. I was unable to reinsert the key to start the ignition until I used powder graphite and tapped the key in place. Once the key was in, it became very difficult to remove. I've ended up leaving the key in the key slot and using a second key fob to lock and unlock the doors.

Brakes failed which caused crash. The very day back brakes were fixed, the front brakes then went out within a month, resulting in almost another accident. Even though Ford recalled this back in 2000, (bought car in 2005) they are refusing to fix it. There have been 14 total recalls, all seem to be wrong with my car too. I should have done my homework prior to buying but why was anyone even able to sell this to me considering all the recalls?

The master switch for the passenger window does not work, the rear passenger window assembly is broke leaving the window not able to stay up. There is a funny noise when driving down the road. It sounds like a crackly noise. Half of the time the heat will not work.

Hi, on Saturday evening (June 18, 2005) I drove my 2000 Ford Focus zts to edgerton confort inn in Wisconsin with my wife and 6 months old child without any problems. On father's day morning (June 19, 2005) ready to enjoy breakfast with family and friends I was not able to turn on the car. The ignition key would only go in half-way and wouldn't do anything plus steering wheel was locked as well, eventhouth I didn't lock it the night before. I spent about an hour with friends trying different approaches to release the steering wheel without success. The closest town I could find a Ford service center was in janesville, wi and on a Sunday (father's day) I couldn't resolve much. I had to spent another extra night in the hotel to be able to resolve the next day. Not a fun thing when you have a young child with you and not able to do much without a car. On Monday, June 20, 2005, I got in contact with gordie boucher Ford service center to arrange towing service. That cost me $73.50 to get my car from the hotel parking lot to the service center. At the service center I was told that my problem was a known problem by them, that it wasn't the 1st. Time they see it happend to Focus cars and that will cost me 3 hours of labor + part. (labor: 279.83; part: $98.47 = $378.30+tax) hotel/towing/Ford service total was close to $500 the damaged part was the ignition tumbler which they had to drill out, rekey the new tumbler and replace it. Old parts stayed at service center. This is apparently a known problem and I would like to voice my complaint with you because this should be taken care by a recall from Ford Motor Company. Also, you can read more about this from other owners on edmund's website: townhall-talk.edmunds.com/webx?14@781.0bpndjtay7N.0@.eea50dc/0 please advice and thank you for your proving this venue to us, consumers. Ignition lock, nothing lead up to the failure its an engineering problem with the care. My brother a locksmith has dealt with this problem half a dozen times in the last year with Ford Focus. Couldn't start car had to have it towed and the entire ignition cylinder had to be replaced, costing a lot of money because it requires that all the keys be recoded and all door locks as well.

I purchased my 2000 Ford Focus SE from merlin motors in saskatoon. Production date - May 2/2000, stock no. PP24941, R.O. no. 155631. I believe this car was previously owned by someone in british columbia. Here is a chronological breakdown of repairs. April 17/01 - took car in because driver mirror vibrated badly when driving - so badly that I could not look into it, it was shaking that much. Also, the trunk would not open from the release inside the car. Parts were ordered at this time. Vehicle kilometers- 32854. June 19/01 - they checked for driver mirror vibrating when driving and replaced driver side exterior mirror. The also checked for trunk not opening from the release inside the car, they replaced the trunk stop and adjusted. Vehicle kilometers- 35222 June 20/01 - they checked for power steering leak and replaced steering rack and set toe. Vehicle kilometers- 37782?? (this is obviously an error - I know I did not drive 2, 560 km in one day!) I also did not complain about the power steering and don't recall why my car was in there at the time. Sept 21/01 - they repaired rattle in right front going over bumps, tightened all assemble bolts in front end, removed right caliper and rotor, lubed all bushing, adjusted front splash shields, found tie rod bolt loose and tightened. They also fixed molding on window belt, which was loose and checked inside rear view mirror and found it flawed - part on order. Vehicle kilometers- 43170. Nov 3/01 - we were driving in saskatoon when engine started to boil. We knew this because of steam coming from the hood, all gauges in the car read normal! we took car to merlin - they could find nothing wrong with the car after their checks, and told us to bring it back if it happened again! work order for this date states: Customer saw steam coming from under hood, antifreeze pooled on engine, gauge read normal, steam coming from overflow tank - fill with A/freeze, pressure test for leaks, no leaks found.

I have nothing but grief with my 2000 Focus. 1) most recently I had was traveling at 50 km/H when my front right coil spring dropped out of the front end. I phoned Ford repeatedly and even though I discovered a program covering my the coil springs on I was given the run around saying that I was outside the program recall date by a few months even though the car was made at the wayne assembly plant; where other program recalls were coming from. I ended up in a field when the coil spring broke, narrowing missing the car next to me. I was thankful that I had escaped with my life but not to be covered by Ford was a slap to the face. I am very upset about the way they handled this situation and I am determined to let everyone know about this situation. My alignment is also out because of the accident but can't afford to fix it right now. 2) four times since I've owned the car, the car has stalled. Twice rounding a corner going onto a highway and 2 twice on a straight away highway. It always happened when the gas gauge was below 1/8 of a tank and so I thought it was my fault because I was running out of gas. Of course I blamed myself. But four times ? I began to become suspicious when the car began chugging uphill on a recent long distance trip. I barely made it to my destination. When I took into a Ford dealership in sudbury Ontario the serviceman told me that knows of the problem though most of them came in under warranty. Of course the problem at first only presented itself when the tank was near empty and so I always or nearly always made sure to have at least half a tank full of gas when driving. Today the problem is present regardless of how much gas is in the car. Very convenient for Ford seeing as though I am outside the 60,000 km warranty plan. Again I do not feel comfortable driving on the highways anymore. I am hoping that Ford will hear me out a pay for the repair.
