was in a minor fender bender, going less than 20km/hr. my vehicle rear ended another car with no bumper damage or any other damage to either vehicle, however, the airbags went off and smashed my entire front windshield. this was completely unnecessary and ended up causing much more damage and therefore must higher repair costs. had the airbags not gone off, there would have been NO damage to my car.

My car suffered a minor scratch so did the other. The air bags caused the windshield to break off and send both of us to the hospital,The Ins.est total the car.The speed was about 15 not more then 20mph.If the airbags had not triggered we would all just drove away.the other INS.did not cover any cost .3000 for the hospital and amb.ride there.Advice the 2000 ford focus i hear has a male/female conn.somewhere by the grill area get it disconnected because the fender bender is not worth a 3000 dollar trip the hospital.

Low speed bumper to bumper accident on a rain slick highway. What should have been a drive away incident with minor bumper damage, became deployed air bags that smashed the windshield and showered the passenger cabin with tiny shards of glass.
Fortunately, neither my son or his passenger were hurt. We're looking at about $400 to replace the windshield. I don't know the cost of air bag replacement, but research indicates it could run $600-$700 per air bag. Flawed design on Ford's part to have air bag deployment destroy the windshield.
