Original owner of a 2000 Focus Zx3. The right suspension spring snapped, jammed into the tire, and caused the strut to crack. Since both springs had to be replaced and the strut had to be replaced, it cost $800 with labor. Has anyone ever heard of a car with only 39,000 miles having the suspension fail like that??? It wasn't like I took it off-roading or anything, just typical city driving. I had a 1986 Volvo 240GL that I drove all over the country through ice, snow and dirt with 188K miles on it and the only thing I ever had go wrong with the suspension was a wheel bearing.

Start thinking of all the derogatory acronyms for FORD, because they're all true. To make matters worse this is the 4th breakdown we've had with this car. The resale value is awful too, I'll be lucky to get $2K for it, even with the low mileage. I'm going back to Japanese cars and Volvos from this point forward.

the front passenger side tire blew out due to the suspension spring fracturing. Ford replaced the tire and both front springs free of charge but have apparently not issued any recall notice (that I can find anywhere) for this potentially very dangerous fault. I am pursuing this both with Ford Canada and Transport Canada due the indifference Ford have shown to my requests. Maybe they view a few legal claims for damages from people injured by a high speed blowout as the "cost of doing business" i. e. cheaper than fixing all the cars out there. We will see.
