sharp edges of harness chewed through brake cables

The parking brake cable guide on both sides has sharp metal edges and the brake line was ground down to the point where the inner cable and sheath were exposed. The inner cable became rusted and when the parking brake was applied the cable would pull into the braking position. When you released the lever the cable was frozen in place and the back pads staying out and in contact with the drums. The drums got so hot after about 1 block that we could smell burning metal.

Replacing these was a real nightmare. I had to jack the entire right side of the car up and pound on the pressure nuts holding the heatshield in place. Then when I did get them off, my replacement cables where the wrong type. The car is non advance track so I had to get the cables from my local dealer.
