Focus

  • Automatic transmission

First left rear window regulator went out while I was driving down I24, which sounded like a gunshot and almost made me drive off the rode at 70mph with 3 kids in the car. then my right rear regulator went out. This time I was driving my 3 year old son to the babysitter at 5:00am. Once again the sound scared me so bad I swerved nearly hitting a car next to me. I got these fixed at a cost of about $350.00. Last week my left rear regulator went out once again, at this point im so disgusted I don't know what to do.

This is ridiculous. I have owned Ford cars before, and have never had as many problems as this Focus! I will NEVER look at ford the same again, and will especially never look at a focus ever again. I had bought this car from a dealership 2 years ago. I should've taken a hint when they were willing to do anything for me to buy the damn thing, they definitely knew what was going to happen to it in the near future and didn't want to fix it. My struts are completely gone, the springs squeak, the electronics are all falling apart especially the driver's side panel. From that panel I cannot open/close the other 3 windows, only the drivers. The passenger side panel won't work PERIOD. The passenger side locks make a horrible squealing noise everytime the door locks etc. Then THIS happens. The rear passenger side window now has fallen down. We had taken the door apart hoping it was just the wire or the window coming off the track but NO.....just like what I have been reading, the crappy plastic piece has broken. I'm not spending $300 for something that can just as easily break again. I was using duct tape to hold it up, which makes it THAT much more appealing, but I will resort to holding up the window with a piece of wood, or brilliantly suggested earlier a "STAXX" chip container (thanks for the idea! $3.00 vs. $300 is a great). Ford needs to make this a recall item as OBVIOUSLY this is a re-occurring problem with many.

I came out from class one day , and the back window on the drivers side was down! first thought someone had broken in,when i went to roll the window up a CRACKING noise occurred. luckily the window didn't break, but sure enough the window motor had to be replaced. Whatever you do. DO NOT TRY TO ROLL UP WINDOW, IT WILL BREAK and warranty doesn't cover that, and if u have to pay out of pocket well you might as well start digging your grave lol

In the last 6 weeks my window motors have gone bad, I have paid for the replacement of the rear window motors, almost 700$, and now the driver window has stopped working. I was hoping ford would recall this issue, at this point i am waiting for the passenger window to stop working too to save my self a trip to the shop. not looking forward to another 700$ for the front windows. Never a problem and then they all break at the same time, quite strange

Three of the four windows in my 2002 Ford

Focus have broken in less than a year and Ford does not see it as a design flaw? Cost me approx. $900 for 3 windows to be fixed.

I can't believe I've had to replace all 4 window motors in my Focus. Actually, I can... but it's ridiculous! Each window motor replacement costs about $300, plus the aggravation of having to get it into the mechanic immediately for security reasons. The windows started going out just before my 3 year warranty was up. It's amazing these cars seem to be built to last 3 years... then you should really look at getting a higher paying job to offset the cost to keep this car in useable condition.
