I notice the number plate lights on my wife's Ford focus are dead. The door brake lights are also dead. My plan is to replace them. I buy brand new number plate bulbs from Halfords. I replace them and nothing happens. I open the back panels and the wires seem ok. I check the fuses and they seem ok. I am fed up with this car, so I decide to go for the jugular. I open the loom and the hatch door and lo, the wires are corroded and water is seeping from the loom as if it was in a swamp. The copper wires have green deposits and easily snap off. I try connecting them and lo behold, the brake lights are working and the number plate lights are working.
I bought connectors and simply cut the rotten and corroded parts and made new connections with additional wires and it works fine. Ford, what is the problem with your wiring?!!!!
