I HAD NO idea I had a 5 year warranty with Ford, I believed it to be a 3 year. I spoke to them 17 times, and they sure as hell KNEW I had the warranty and NEVER said a word about it, until the day after it expired....and the guy from FORD actually laughed, I mean he was giddy! Replacing a transmission after ONLY 24,000 on a 2004 Z3 in 2009, that's crazy!
It cost me 3900$ out of my pocket, I even contacted the Corporate office and they said "Well you should have known it was a 5 year warranty, then we would have fixed it" maybe that's true, but as a LOYAL ford buyer since 1975, they could have shared the info, which they knew, because they had ALL the contract info, and frankly I did not know that DRIVE TRAIN meant TRANSMISSION. If I knew that I guess I'd be working for a cut throat, shady bunch of liars at FORD!

I had an extended warranty on this vehicle (which is another BEEF) and when the warranty was 2 weeks from expiring I took it to the Ford dealer in Welland and asked for it to be given a good service which they did, and I agreed to about $1000 of repair of which $200 was covered. Part of this was to flush and replace the transmission fluid.
Bearing in mind, I was having no problem at all with the car, actually I was quite happy with it. Then 3 weeks later the Transmission went. I took it back to Ford and complained that it was working well before they screwed it up again bearing in mind it is 1 week out of the warranty and with only 83500kms on the clock. You would not believe the crap they gave me about accepting responsibility for the repair even through the Head Office in Oakville. It turned out that I was eventually offered to pay only 25% of the repair which I thought was a fair deal. However after the repair I was told the deal had changed and now I ended up paying 42% of the repair. What made this hard to take was the fact there was a advisory service document issued by Ford stating the Focus built between 2002-2004 was prone to this specific problem. Even after 12 months I am still so angry that Ford could treat their life- long customers this way
