The contact owns a 2007 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the rear driver's side door latch was inoperable. The door was being held closed by the rear driver's side seat belt. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the latch for the door was frozen and would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 89,000.

The rear doors do not lock. The manual locking device doesn't move, nor does the lock on the remote work, so there is no way to lock the doors. This may have been like this for a long time without us noticing. Thank goodness that a child did not try to open the door because it has not locked. This issue is all over the internet and is a common problem. This is a serious problem.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 40 mph, the rear passenger side door opened without intent. The contact maneuvered to the side of the road and attempted to close the door yet the door failed to remain in a secured position. The vehicle passenger manually held the door to prevent it from opening when in motion. The contact stated that the failure was related to the plastic door latch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were notified and they were unable to provide assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
