The A/C is not working. Took it to the Ford dealer this morning and the estimate to repair It is over $1700. The complete system is leaking. Will not hold any Freon. The car has only 23,800 miles on it. Seems like a big problem for a car with so few miles. Last Ford I will ever buy.

$1000 to fix the AC evaporator sensor. A day and a half of labor.
This after I've spent $1000 to fix a trans issue, then another $1000 for engine/transmission mounts.
No warranty since it was pre-owned.

Have had vehicle in for AC problems several times...Ford "replaced" entire unit last fall...didn't use though the winter...now it's hot here and the same problems are happening again!?! Had to replace all tires shortly after purchase! Now I need to take it in for possible transmission problems at 44000 mi...!?!

a/c clutch intermittently engages driving down road
Can't charge with freon because clutch will not engage while car is not moving. While driving down road, blows hot air, then every few minutes or so, will blow cold air for about 5 sec, then hot air again. I can feel the clutch engaging and disengaging while driving down road.

I bought my Ford Focus in September, 2010 and didn't need to use my AC until May, 2011. By July, it stopped working. My Ford dealership "fixed" it but I had the same problem the Summer of 2012. They "fixed" it again, both times under warranty. When it broke again a year later, they refused to fix it at no charge. I asked them, "Why would I pay for something that you supposedly fixed twice already? You obviously didn't fix the problem if it keeps breaking." They wouldn't budge.
So I drove it without AC for awhile and noticed that it would sometimes work and then not work. When it did work, it was never freezing cold; I never had to adjust the knob to make it less cold. My car would also sometimes overheat when my AC stopped working. About 2014, I took it to another place and got it fixed. That day my engine overheated and the AC stopped working, I took it back, and they checked it out and kept it running for over 1/2 hour and the AC was working. It was SO COLD in my car that I had to decrease the coldness. First time ever! Summer of 2019, the AC broke again.
I took it to a third place where they do great work on other aspects of my car so I trusted them. It worked for the rest of the summer, then I of course don't use it during the winter months up here in Canada. Last week, my AC stopped working again for the FIFTH TIME in nine years!!! I am taking it to the same place as I took it in 2019 and see what they can do. I don't even know if I will fix it this time. I plan to send a detailed letter to Ford Canada with a copy to the dealership where I purchased the car and ask them to reimburse me for the times I had to pay to have my AC fixed after Ford "fixed" it twice before. This is beyond maddening and...no...not planning to ever buy another Ford vehicle.
