We bought a used 2008 Ford Focus S for our daughter in Oct 2013. The A/C started blowing hot air in May 2014 and they refilled it with Freon but by April 2015 the Freon had leaked out and it was diagnosed with an evaporator core leak. It's an expensive repair and the dealership charged $1700. In June the car was totaled in an accident when another driver ran a stop sign (daughter was fine thank goodness) so we purchased this 2010 Ford Focus and within a week of purchasing it the A/C went out. Another leaking evaporator core!

My car has only been out of warranty for one year and I understand what that entails. But the car is only 4 years old and there is a leak in the a/c and not only is the unit that needs to be replaced extremely expensive but it also includes a full 8 hour to take out my dash and replace the evaporator. Then you need to think, are they putting my dash back correctly and is everything going to work like normal? My main gripe is the car only being 4 years old and this happening. Does this happen more than you think?

I won't buy Focus again. I have had few, but expensive issues with it.

Frustrating to have this happen when I've had a few older vehicles now, and this is the first to have the evaporator leaking such that it needed replacement.
