After paying the toll gate in expressway, I could not engaged anymore into 1st gear. I tried to press again and again the clutch but still I could not engage it. I decided to switch-off the engine and I notice the 1st gear did engage when I pressed the clutch. However, when I started again the problem remained the same.
This car is lightly used and it has only 38824 km on its record. Besides, this car is regularly well maintained by Ford Service Center only. No other service center had ever touch this.
The following day after I was towed to the nearest Ford Service Center, I asked the Service Adviser from Ford the findings. He told me that the primary clutch, cable, fluid, and all other visible external parts are all good and intact. He told me also to check further the problem, the transmission where secondary clutch and other parts located should be dismantled. For this reason, he asked me If I am willing to pay more the cost of parts and labor. Being curious of this uncommon problem, I told the Service Adviser to wait just to ask for some advice anywhere. I could not believe this would happen to my well maintained and lightly used car.
Please send to me your advice, ideas or suggestions if you have some.
Thak you...

I was stopped at intersection and when the light turned green my clutch would not engage. Could not get it to go into first or any other selection for that matter. Had to turn car off and call for tow. I am 58 and have driven manuals all my life. I have never had a clutch fail in that manner before. My 2010 Ford Focus only has 45,000 miles. It was late Friday afternoon and the dealership only had time to do a quick look at the problem. At first they said the clutch looked fine. They never seen anything like this. They would have to take the engine apart on Monday to see what the real problem was.
When I picked up car on Tuesday I paid for new clutch kit and labor.($1,272) Why would a clutch fail in this manner after only 45,000? My first Ford and my last. My Nissan did not need a clutch until 100,000 miles and it failed the normal way, like all my other manuals, where the clutch gets closer and closer to the floor. This was very strange. I feel a part was defective. But no way to prove it. So much for trying to buy American.

The clutch would not engage when the engine was cold, and I had to wait for the engine to warm up to use the car and if I had not gotten It repaired when I did, more damage would have occurred with the car.
