A mechanic noticed that the inner sidewalls on both front wheels were splitting (as if along the seams) on the Goodyear weatherhandler 215/45R17. The tires were fixed before any blowout occurred, but Goodyear refused to take responsibility. Three separate mechanics from different garages had never seen anything like it, and confirmed that it did not occur from daily wear and tear.

I purchased Goodyear assurance 215/45R17 tires 03/19/2013 dot M763 julr 3412 for my 2010 Ford Focus VIN# [xxx] at 32,436 miles on the vehicle. At 69,914 miles on 9/29/15, the left rear tire went flat. Inspection of the tire reveled side wall separation from the carcass which appears due to dry rot. Inspection of the other tires also had signs dry rot. I have retained 2 of the 4 tires for analysis and inspection should your engineering department want for further analysis. I will keep them on hand for 2 months from date of this letter. I filed this complaint due to safety concerns of the tire. Side wall separation should not occur with 37,478 miles or within 36 months of purchase. I have 2 of the 4 tires for analysis if required that I will keep on hand for analysis. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Focus. The contact stated that coolant was emitted through the air conditioning duct and leaked inside the vehicle. The failure caused electrical problems in the vehicle. A representative was sent by the manufacturer to install a coolant fan motor on the vehicle. The contact stated that after the installation, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified who offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000...updated 09-26-12 the consumer stated when coolant came out of the airducts it got on the consumer's face. When the consumer applied the brakes the vehicle went in reverse. The brakes were applied again, the consumer hit the steering wheel and the seat belt unbuckled. The coolant that came out of the airducts also reached the interior floor and behind the console. Other issues with vehicle are the tires that have always looked worn, when the brakes were applied the vehicle would accelerate, rpms would increase and engine revs, toxic and burning wire odors, excessive heat from the engine, metal grinding sounds from under the hood, vibrating and rough riding, the trunk opens on its own, compressing sound while air condition is running, windows were icing on the exterior of driver and passenger windows, and rust on the ignition. I bought this car new with 182 miles on it. I had all of the service performed at the dealership where I bought it (all-star Ford in palestine, tx), beginning with the oil changes. At the first oil change, I had the tires rotated. After that, I had them rotated at every other oil change (without exception) and at 18,940 miles, I am told that all four of the tires are "cupped" on the inside tread. All the dealership wants to do is sell me more tires and suggest that I have them rotated at every oil change. For a car that has less than 20,000 miles on it, this is unacceptable. My first reaction was to put it back into the showroom! right through the glass windows! but, I refrained. Nonetheless, this is a design defect and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

She was only able to exit the vehicle from the rear, if the vehicle was in park and the front driver side door was opened. The dealer advised her that the vehicle was operating as designed and to replace the locking mechanism if she did not feel safe. The manufacturer was not notified nor was the vehicle repaired. The current mileage was 23,135. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Updated 9/27/11 the sunroof leaked water and the tires caused a sever vibration. The tire issue has sine been resolved.

Mom and I was driving a rental. 2010 Ford Focus. Earlier that day she was driving the car an complained it was wobbling when the steering wheel still. For me, at first when I was driving I thought it was the wind making the car wobble, but as I was driving down the highway and notice my back right tire rotation was very unusual (it just didn't feel right) so I slow down to feel the same reaction. When I did my car fishtailed into the median wall of the highway (smashing in the right side or driver side of the car) (when hitting the wall, the breaks and steering wheel locked up) and bounced me across to the left side of the highway hitting the metal rail that help me stop rolling, ended up with minor injuries, serious headaches, and a so called ticket of $130 failure to control my vehicle I don't know if Ford Focus function that way, but I will never advise anyone to ever get a Ford!
