I was under the car changing oil when I noticed rust on the lower subframe below the engine that lower control arms attach to. Not just any rust; two approximately 3.5" long strips on the corners of metal flaking off and 4 rust bubbles of various size. The bubbles were under the thin paint on it. In my experience this is not good. Ground it off with a Dremel tool and confirmed it is the type of rust you typically see afflicting older Japanese cars in high-salt environments. I ground off and polished the spots I could see. I get it, I live in PA and salt does happen. The car is washed regularly, including the under carriage. It is not structural but is disappointing, as it's indicative of a poor quality rust proofing treatment on this part.
