Defective door latch (driver side). Door latch does not engage and "lock" closed to secure door. Door remains open at all times. My 16 year old daughter went to start her car for school this morning and noticed that the driver side door would not shut. Upon investigation I noticed that the latch would not engage and remained in the "open" position at all times.

Door latches failed. First one failed last October (back left) and now the driver's door failed (front left). First one happened when a passenger was getting in the vehicle (was not noticed till the vehicle was in motion) and the second one happened when I was leaving the vehicle (car was stationary). I am actually surprised that this has not had a recall yet. Had to pay out of pocket for both. You would think a car manufacturer could make a door latch last longer than 3-4 years.

Driver door will not latch when trying to close. Latch assy door does not engage. The door just bounces open. Never have had any problem until it just happened. Dealer says they are not currently on recall, but if they replace it the cost is about $475. I feel it is a Ford problem on this vehicle and they should repair it no- charge. Maybe people have to be hurt or die first before it is resolved. Hope not !!!!!

While driving down a residential road, the driver's side door opened. I stopped the vehicle and attempted to shut the door. The door opened without pulling the handle. Now the door no longer closes and must be held shut at all times by the driver.

I have had two door latches fail on my 2012 Focus so far. The driver door was the first to fail, which has already been repaired on 12 February 2016 (documentation provided through upload). Door ajar warning light will not turn off. The driver's side door failed in my driveway, and I had to tie myself in using my seatbelt just to go get it repaired. This is a known and ongoing problem for Ford. The rear passenger door failed while the car was in motion; luckily a friend was able to grab the door and hold it close before it was struck by a passing car in the lane next to us on a city street. My kids were in the back seat at the time, and I fear that I cannot use my vehicle because it is unsafe to drive in its present condition, and the other two doors could fail at any time. My two-year-old daughter sits in a car seat right next to the left passenger door, and my wife typically sits in the front passenger seat, both of which seem as if they are next in line to fail. This is a huge safety concern and Ford should repair these at no cost, reimburse for money already spent, and even provide a tow truck to bring the vehicle safely to the dealership for repair. Currently my car has been sitting in the drive way for a week and I cannot really go anywhere because the door will not lock after this failure happens, which means someone can just open the door and take whatever they would like. In addition, it poses a potential problem with the battery since the interior and exterior lights will not turn off for approximately 30 minutes while the failed door latch leaves the door in the open position. The most recent case occurred on 29 April 2016, and is still not repaired because I cannot afford to fix it at this time.

I have had transmission problems from day one. The car studded and stop from time to time. I almost got into an accident with my daughter when the car suddenly stopped on me because of faulty transmission. The radiator also went out. The steering gear locked up on me while I was driving and I almost had an accident with my kids in the car.

My driver door will not close and I took it to Ford they said it is the latch that broke told me they could not fix it as a recall but Ford fiesta is being recalled for the same part. Told me I could pay 450 bucks to fix it for a part that is being recalled on a different car but it's the same piece.. I have been driving with bungy cords attached to my door...if I had something to do with this I could understand but I didn't it is a piece on there car that broke and they need to fix it...my transmission was a recall they fixed that and it continues to do the same thing as before

Today the front driver's side door latch failed while driving on the freeway. The door was closed and latch intact when I initially started the car and began driving then suddenly the door flew open while in motion and a notification appeared saying "driver's side door open." The issue happened so suddenly that I was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the vehicle driving to my left and nearly hit the vehicle to my right. I pulled over and attempted to open and close the door several times and engage the lock to see if the door would stay closed but was unsuccessful. I managed to get the vehicle to a nearby Ford dealership by holding the door tightly with one hand while steering with the other. At the dealership I was told that this issue was not covered under my gold level extended warranty that I had purchased and it would cost nearly 600 dollars to fix. Not only was the repair expensive, but the part was out of stock and would require my vehicle to stay in the shop for an undisclosed number of days, which forced me to rent a rental vehicle, incurring another cost.

Back seat(drivers side) door latch failed on my husbands way home from work. The door flew open on a turn and all of his tools flew out the into the street. (he had my car because his Ford transit was in the shop for the transmission issues) we had to tie the door with a bungee cord. The other back door latch (passenger side) flew open on the freeway while on the way to a birthday party resulting in a lost present and cake. Now both back doors are tied so the doors don't fly open. I drive a canyon road to work and back everyday and going through a turn results in the door light coming on and makes the noise for when a door is open. We have tried going to Ford numerous times and they acknowledge that other years have been recalled but not my year and model. Ford has offered to "fix" the problem for a mere $700 dollars per door. I called corporate and received the same answer were sorry we know there is a problem but not for your year make and model. I now have a four door passenger car that only sits two people because the back doors are tied together. I pray everyday that my front drivers door and passenger door don't fly open. I have always owned a Ford and never had a complaint about them but it is hard to believe that they do not care about their customers safety. What if my grandkids were in the back seat and the door flew open with them in the car? I will never own another Ford this is a safety issue and big let down. Please help to open a recall for this year make and model. 2102 Ford Focus

The rear passenger door loock does not stay locked, my grandaughter was riding in the rear passenger seat when the door flew open. Door ill not stay. Took the car to orange Ford in orange ca, where they stated there is no recall on this model even though there is a recall on the same year of Ford 2012 Fusion and fesitia for a know latch problem for the passenger doors. I also spoke to Ford Motor Companies customer service today and they also stated there is nothing they can do until the problem is recalled. I will have to pay for the repair. This is a real saftey problem which for is not taking responsibility for. What should I do?

In 2015 after I started my car the power steering went out when coming out of the driveway at home. It use to come back on but comes off when car is parked then driven again. Now there is no power steering. On March 28, 2016, my car started honking twice when I push the lock button while the car is running on park and driving on the city street.
