I have had transmission problems from day one. The car studded and stop from time to time. I almost got into an accident with my daughter when the car suddenly stopped on me because of faulty transmission. The radiator also went out. The steering gear locked up on me while I was driving and I almost had an accident with my kids in the car.

I have been driving with bungy cords attached to my door...if I had something to do with this I could understand but I didn't it is a piece on there car that broke and they need to fix it...my transmission was a recall they fixed that and it continues to do the same thing as before

Today the front driver's side door latch failed while driving on the freeway. The door was closed and latch intact when I initially started the car and began driving then suddenly the door flew open while in motion and a notification appeared saying "driver's side door open." The issue happened so suddenly that I was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the vehicle driving to my left and nearly hit the vehicle to my right. I pulled over and attempted to open and close the door several times and engage the lock to see if the door would stay closed but was unsuccessful. I managed to get the vehicle to a nearby Ford dealership by holding the door tightly with one hand while steering with the other. At the dealership I was told that this issue was not covered under my gold level extended warranty that I had purchased and it would cost nearly 600 dollars to fix. Not only was the repair expensive, but the part was out of stock and would require my vehicle to stay in the shop for an undisclosed number of days, which forced me to rent a rental vehicle, incurring another cost.

Back seat(drivers side) door latch failed on my husbands way home from work. The door flew open on a turn and all of his tools flew out the into the street. (he had my car because his Ford transit was in the shop for the transmission issues) we had to tie the door with a bungee cord. The other back door latch (passenger side) flew open on the freeway while on the way to a birthday party resulting in a lost present and cake. Now both back doors are tied so the doors don't fly open. I drive a canyon road to work and back everyday and going through a turn results in the door light coming on and makes the noise for when a door is open. We have tried going to Ford numerous times and they acknowledge that other years have been recalled but not my year and model. Ford has offered to "fix" the problem for a mere $700 dollars per door. I called corporate and received the same answer were sorry we know there is a problem but not for your year make and model. I now have a four door passenger car that only sits two people because the back doors are tied together. I pray everyday that my front drivers door and passenger door don't fly open. I have always owned a Ford and never had a complaint about them but it is hard to believe that they do not care about their customers safety. What if my grandkids were in the back seat and the door flew open with them in the car? I will never own another Ford this is a safety issue and big let down. Please help to open a recall for this year make and model. 2102 Ford Focus

The rear passenger door loock does not stay locked, my grandaughter was riding in the rear passenger seat when the door flew open. Door ill not stay. Took the car to orange Ford in orange ca, where they stated there is no recall on this model even though there is a recall on the same year of Ford 2012 Fusion and fesitia for a know latch problem for the passenger doors. I also spoke to Ford Motor Companies customer service today and they also stated there is nothing they can do until the problem is recalled. I will have to pay for the repair. This is a real saftey problem which for is not taking responsibility for. What should I do?

In 2015 after I started my car the power steering went out when coming out of the driveway at home. It use to come back on but comes off when car is parked then driven again. Now there is no power steering. On March 28, 2016, my car started honking twice when I push the lock button while the car is running on park and driving on the city street.

In August 2012 I went to close my drivers door and it would not latch closed. The safety latch had broken in the open position and my door would not close at all. I called the Ford dealer and they replaced the latch under the warranty. Then on February 27 2016 my daughter went to close the front passenger door, and the door would not latch shut. I had to tie the door closed with ropes to hold the door closed. Both times the car was parked. But again it was the door safety latch that failed and broke in the open position. 50% of the door latches on this car have now failed. I know there's an investigation ongoing about the door latches from Ford, and that my car is not part of the recall. Today, March 1 2016 Ford diagnosed the problem as a faulty door latch. They have yet to decided if they will cover the cost of the replacement part and labor. It's my personal belief that the remaining 2 latches on the rear doors will fail in time. It's my belief that Ford needs to replace all 4 safety door latches.

Feb 29, 2016 was driving to work on freeway when I noticed driver door was not closed. I attempted to close door but it would not stay shut. I exit the freeway and repeatedly attempting to close the door. This has never happened to me before. I was afraid of what possibly could have happened. Not to me but to my girlfriend who is 5 months pregnant with our child. It is the car we bought for her but today I decided to leave her my truck. "better me then her" is what I was thinking. I immediately searched google to see what it can possibly be when I came across the recall Ford was having. I didn't see Ford Focus on there and was thinking "why the hell not" it seems to be the same problem. I came across forums of other have the same horrible experience. I also read of it happening to a women in Arizona who had her cost covered by Ford. I called my dealer where we purchased the vehicle and was advised that the Focus is not covered. I was given a call later during the day with an price of $682.56 to have it fixed. I called a 1-800-392-3673 to speak with Ford and express my concern and the terrifying experience of my drive to work. All I was told I can do is hold on to my receipt in case it is recalled in the future. I asked about the women in Arizona who had the same experience and why was her cost covered and not any of these other people. I was told hers was probably different. I was speechless after that. As our call came to an end all I could think about was all these complaints about door latches not closing and the accidents that can possibly happen at any given time without warning. No one is taking responsibility for the defected latches. Ford is no taking responsibility for the defected latches. How can they recall approx. 400,000 other models and not realize maybe the same thing is happening to the Focus.

The first time was going down 93 in boston area with my family the car went into transmission failure why I was in far left lane the car wouldnt go over 20 and I had to cross over to the far left lane to treach the breakdown lane. Luckily my family was not in accident because it could've have been far worse. It did the same thing a second time when I was going down 293 area going to a doctor appointment. This may end up killing my family if it doesn't get recalled and fix. We don't have extra money to be repairing it ourself every time it decides to do this.

May 012015

Focus

  • 40,000 miles
Three of my 4 door latches stopped functioning completely. They did not work whether the car was stationary, in motion, driving, or turning. We had to tie the door handles to each other from the inside to keep them from flying open while driving. When you pushed them shut from the outside, they would bounce back open. This also caused constant warning lights/sounds from the dash. Ford stated there was a recall, but ours were not covered because my 4 door latches were packaged as a 4 pack whereas the serial numbers for the recalled latches were sold in individual packaging. So therefore, I was not covered due to a loop hole. The doors not shutting properly (ever) caused water to leak in and cause other problems such as the window motor shorting out. I reached out to corporate and customer service and was told they would not pay for the repairs. I paid for the repairs out of pocket because I had to.

Front driver side door will not consistently latch closed. Car was parked when I first noticed the door was ajar. Had to drive with the door immobilized by speaker wire and holding it with my hand until I had time to repeatedly close it in hope of it staying shut. After 45 minutes, it stayed shut until the few times I accidentally opened it without thinking which would result in similar adventures in getting it to close. Speaking to the dealership, they knew exactly what part I needed without much explaining of the problem and I was told my extended warranty would not cover it.

Door latches faulty, as in regards to NHTSA action number PE16001. Left front door latch failed, left rear door latch failed about two weeks later. Vehicle was parked in both instances. Doors would not close. Had to tie shut to drive to dealer for replacement of latches. At time of second incident, service manager sent me an email stating that Ford was now going to be replacing all door latches on this model when one failed. However, this was not done on my vehicle.
